NES set the standard for the computer RPG?

Dragon Warrior and Final Fantasy certainly did not set the standard for computer role-playing games. I am not sure which came first, but the credit for that achievement would have to go to either Ultima or Wizardry (which was my personal fave back in the day).
It would have been just as dishonest to imply (as the slashdot summary appears to) that ATL is solely funded by Microsoft. Listing the other founders was the right thing to do.
This was a great British show that was syndicated on Nickelodeon when I was a kid... ok, maybe it really sucked and I am really just remember it was childish nostalgia. I don't know, but at the very least I thought that someone should bring it up.
