Many who tend to post on these types of threads are die-hard apple fans and any lawsuits where apple is not on the winning end are due to "countries where they want to punish apple".
What happens when China bans it and the "price" tumbles like they did in early Dec?
What happens when all the "Learn FX trading now" guys move over from real FX to "BitFX" and saturate the market with potential "million dollar traders"?
Wont be long before its "played out" and everyone moves on to the next big thing.
True in theory, but not in reality. How many "internet companies" are trading at high multiples? What is their "intrinsic value" and why are the multiple so high?
Take a look at companies you think have "intrinsic value" and note their relative low PE's. Now take a few you think dont have intrinsic value and the corresponding high PE's. Why do people pay that PE premium?
For example, here is the PE for facebook: 121.08
And for reference:
Google 32.71
Apple 13.63
How much advertising can you sell?
Somewhat correct about Tulips, but it was more a "economic bubble" something like the internet bubble in the early 2000's or the more recent "housing bubble"
1) We have been eating those foods for a very long time.
2) Many common items are poisonous in high quantities. (LD50 amounts are for rats given an oral dose)
a) Water >90,000 mg/kg
b) Vitamin C 11,900 mg/kg
c) Caffeine 192 mg/kg
etc
My kids have taken the IQ tests in school and one was was rated "very superior" (while the others were "normal"). This got me thinking what "very superior" means and why. She has an amazing ability to "think outside the box", if she cant reach a solution she can step aside and look at the problem from multiple angles until it works.
While they are looking at "progressive-type stuff" on the tests they are measuring a certain ability that many just don't have.
We have copyright laws here, but they are not the same as in the US as ours are not as strict. On multiple occassions the US has attempted to have Canada modify the laws to "bring them in line" with US laws (longer with much harsher punishments).
Thanks to wikileaks you can read the "top secret" cables where Canada was put on the "piracy watch list" as an attempt to force changes.
Now compare this with most companies ability to outsource with ease as labour is cheaper elsewhere.
Region locks prevent consumers from benefiting from "Globalization" even though companies can exploit it at will. If i can get a legal DVD from China for around a dollar and it has an english soundtrack why shouldn't I be able to import these back? Isn't this the same mechanism outsourcing uses (jobs to where labour is cheap, but yet you cant reimport the cheap products back)?
First, what waste? Clearly i stated I am paying to heat my house anyhow. Some people have electric heating so is that "wasted" as well? I'm not saying heat your house with them, i am saying the heat they release is not always wasted.
Flip side, what energy are we talking about anyhow "saving" anyhow the difference between a 60 watt incandescent vs the 13 watt CFL? So 47 Watts?
Going after residential lighting is sort of odd as it is not the biggest energy hog in an average house. I have gas appliances, but an average electric dryer is 4,000 watts which makes the 60 watt bulb seem pretty small.
For a while electric furnaces were the "in" thing, they use around 20KW so yeah, saving that 47 watts makes a HUGE difference.
Here in southern Ontario its chilly (24F or -4C) and the snow is around 8 inches deep and still coming down. Radian heat from lights inst always "wasted" and I am sure people in the rest of Canada where its much colder or Alaska would agree.
This is about comparing a mac with an SSD and everything else external vs any other computer which has the devices internal.
I personally think this is a throwback to the old mac days when they had nice looking computers but UGLY devices all daisy-chained together to get it functional.
I think they have a lot of bigger issues to address first. Rigged bidding is probably as a big one. How many times have we seen stories about IOC officials taking bribes/kickbacks and actually making demands?

So then you agree with this case as well?

I suspect few desktop users run an OS targeted for "servers" where stability is the number one goal?
I mean if they are "exempt" from being spied on it seems logical the "terrorists" would become members of congress and avoid being spied on.

You think we should ban them?
How does the enormous US "corn subsidies" factor into this?
Farmers grow corn (far more then needed) to maximize the amount of subsidies they receive
"Also food is not a true commodity".... Re-read what he they wrote "we let the commodities market manipulate the prices"
Without getting into the manipulation angle, take a look at the CME's agricultural offerings: http://www.cmegroup.com/trading/products/#sortField=oi&sortAsc=false&group=2&page=1
Sure seems that "food" (well, the base blocks like wheat, hogs, etc) trades as a commodity.
Remember when you could jailbreak your iphone by simply going to a website? Industry-leading for sure...
I use to think so as well.

Perfect, don't forget to seed during those "days to download"
Just look to Canada.

Slashdot, come for the news for nerds stay for the spelling/grammar lessons?
Just like apple worked for the consumers to price-fix EBOOKS and drove the prices up?

Evidently you missed the fact i was being sarcastic ;)
That is what the price tag is for ;)
And give up the margin from selling their "made in china" mouse for $69, and keyboard for another $69?
Doesnt apple's "record profits and industry's best profit margins" prove they are better then what foxconn puts in other systems?
Who said anything about being fair?

There are still a lot of public domain stories, or old comic books to transform into movies which is about all they do these days.
Perhaps a respin of "the A-Team" is in order? (not Disney, but you get the point)
