That is because NINTENDO doesn't have a history of putting under developed, untested systems into production. Microsoft does this all the time. /. is just letting people know that Microsoft screwed up yet again.

If NINTENDO did the same I would expect a lashing from all you XBOX ZOMBIES...

Microsoft is ruining an industry that was created because of NINTENDO and SEGA. They should be punished for these acts.

The only reason Microsoft built a console was to turn capital that was being questioned into an investment. How else can you explain to me that they LOSE MONEY on every unit they sell! Most companies care when they lose money... How many millions or billions has Microsoft lost on the XBOX?

IF Microsoft sees this as an issue they will release a statement... You are just ticked because you couldn't a 360. Admit it, you want to crash it... WOW... you are sick... wanna test software?

Microsoft is not going to fix anything if the systems still sell. They will patch the daylights out of the system and it will become useless.

The WORST thing they can do is offer a patch. They need to find the problem, fix it, and then do a fresh production run. Otherwise everyone is buying a ball of band-aids.

I am a Software Quality Engineer. I know first had where testing falls on the list of priorities for a business. Microsoft does not value testing and QA the way they should. The game industry as a whole needs to start adopting QA practices if we are ever going to get beyond this current generation of consoles. We keep throwing complexity into the fire and expecting things to be fine... that complexity is the fuel that will halt the industry and send us back to the 1970's.

You will see more of this as time passes and when complaints start rolling in Microsoft will wiggle its way out of this mess but in the end deliver much less than what they promised.

DO THE SMART THING AND WAIT UNTIL THEY GET THEIR ACT TOGETHER!!!

MAKE THEM RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR MISTAKE!!!

DO NOT BUY AN XBOX 360 UNTIL MARCH!!!

I worked for Toys 'R' Us for 5 years... I witnessed Tickle Me Elmo, Furby, the N64, the PS2, and the XBOX. IT happens... people get stupid about this stuff... Fights break out and the cops show up. When I worked for Zany Brainy we had grown men fighting over Beenie Babies... I am boycotting Microsoft for being sneaky and making the supply limited. This is a scam and you are all buying into it. Stick it to Microsoft and make them come up with something that is a gaming machine... not just an all in one media device that is barely an upgrade to their previous entry. The BS with the backwards compatibility... man... SNEAKY.... thats okay... Japan is where a system has to be a success to survive. Microsoft is making sure they fail this time...

I cannot tell you how many times I have found commercial software using source from open source projects. Most of the time the product has just had the front end altered, but the application is the exact same project from sourceforge.net. I have alerted many many open source developers and every time they thank me for the notification, but they are also helpless to persue the offending party.

    Another M$ fanboy!

Remember this: If the Xbox wasn't bundled with Jet Grind Radio (which they butchered on the xb) and that other game (I want to say tetris world for some reason) last holiday season the Xbox would have gotten less than half the sales it did. Parents were lead into believing the 2 games were a deal. Sega is more relevant in the game industry than Bungie... or Rare for that matter!

  12. Ever hear of configuration files??? on Plotting the Revolution's Arc · · Score: 1

Implementing this control schema would be no different than what developers currently have to implement for the current generation of systems. The statement that "3rd party games will not appear on Revolution because of this controller" is completely short sighted. Do you think that the GC, Xbox, and PS2 had the same controller application interface? I VERY seriously doubt it. Nintendo will just need to ensure that the API layer is properly documented for the 3rd party developers to configure the game controls correctly. Sega is already taking a large interest in this controller and I believe others will follow if they want to be on the cutting edge of the market. If anything Revolution will be the platform that developers experiment on. That is always a good thing. This new controller will allow the developers to take a game like Madden and do MORE with it on the Revolution than the PS3 or 360. Besides I have been reading that the GC controller will be compatible with the Revolution as well. This is a very smart move at this time. Think about this: When the SNES came out everyone laughed at the shoulder buttons...
