I just installed it and played for a while. This is about 19 steps up from the browser that came with my Sony Ericsson S700i...fast, smooth, and ACTUALLY USABLE as a browser! I can surf pron on my phone!
It launches faster than my built-in browser, too, although I cant use the internet button to launch Opera Mini. I wish I could change the default browser.
My only complaint: the function keys (save bookmark, etc) are not exactly intuitive. Saving a bookmark is # 7; it is not in the More context menu, so you actually have to remember the various key combos.
One more complaint...my provider charges 25 centavos per KB. I ran thru 200 pesos (3.50 USD) in 3 minutes. There ain't price competition in the Philippines.
I am a long-time user of Opera on Windows. I have stopped using it most of the time because of incompatibility with my common websites. Opera Mini makes me want to start using the full-size browser again.
Yes, let's get real. What are the killer apps that put non-techies onto the net? 1) E-mail. 2) Chat rooms, ICQ, Instant Messanger, Bulletin Boards. 3) Porn 4) Info on anything you want. #1 and #2 are purely for the purpose of communication with other people. From my own personal life: I hate talking to my mother on the phone, but we email daily; my girlfriend lives in another state, but we email cards, letters, do instant messaging, and occasional video phone conversations; I see my best friend once every 2 or 3 years, but we email or do fantasy sports constantly. I live alone, and I spend a lot of time sitting in a dark room on my computer. Sounds bad, right? Except that I am laughing with my girlfriend about wedding stuff, or slamming college buddies over their picks in college basketball, or sending birthday cards to relatives (who are all listed on our family website). This study saw some guy sitting in the dark alone, while I see someone firmly embedded in a while web of personal connections. Katz point that some traditional institutions are out of step with techies is true, in my opinion.
I guess you don't know any hardcore gamers. The Unreal guys are all buying GeForce 256 video cards for $250, waiting for $400 MAXX dual cards to be available, and would put a bar of gold in there if it would increase their frame rates. I don't know who started this FUD about no one needing anything faster than a 486, but they are, and always have been, wrong. Could a 486 do voice recognition? Hell, it could barely do WYSIWYG word processing!
You know what? Anyone can look athletic, have "great ass/body/muscles/whatever!". Join a gym, use some of the machines. Costs a lousy $20/mo. There's no excuse to say, "I'm a nerd, therefore I am going to be skinny and pale." In my opinion and experience, women want a man. Someone who acts like a man, can take care of her when she needs it, and that she knows will be there. When people start talking this stuff about sensitivity, it usually is a code word for passive and wishy-washy. And just to anticipate the replies, there is a difference between being a strong, assertive partner and being a dominating jerk. Women want the first; men who describe themselves as "sensitive guys" usually can't tell the two types apart.

Among other things, it notes that Greenspan has been surprised that the market has acted more rationally and correctly than the Fed has.
