I agree with you on doubting the use valueness of a camera phone - however there are still phones without a camera I discovered. After my father's cell phone broke, I was thinking about giving him mine (SE K750i) and get a new one - of course including a higher resolution megapixel camera and a lot of other features...But after thinking about the lack of frequent use of all these feature I decided to get a Samsung SGH-X210 - cheap (75), small, elegant looking + not a lot of extra features (luxury:fm-tuner) that just get in the way..try it! Just plain text massaging & calling - that's it..
This is great news! First scientists intended to bring the mammal back to life, after they extracted mammal-dna in a frozen mammal in sibiria - unfortunately they failed in their quest, because elephants couldn't serve as a "mother" for an implanted egg..
Now seeing how we consequently destroy our fragile climate and a possibly ice age not too far down the road, we can safely survive!!
So, if it gets too chilly for you and your possible kids just convince your wife (im assuming you're male here - it's slashdot after all - and i hope you even got a woman;-)) to get one of her eggs to be fertilized by a neanderthal-sperm! After all, this "race"(not the right term, but correct nonetheless) of human beings (and your future kids!!) will be perfectly adopted to living in the ice age!
Of course you'll have to throw all of that stuff about ethics away, but hey - everything comes at a price!
It just seems to me like the only goal everyone is trying to achieve is profit. Which is natural of course as we are living in capitalism. But:
The primary function of a book is to record and SHARE wisdom and google does just that - just like a library does. Shouldn't the wisdom-sharing-part be more important for a society-progress as a whole than the profit-margin??

Seriously, most of today's "Stars", are "Stars" even though:
-they can't sing
-can't play an instrument
-can't compose a single song
-can't be creative (you know that funny feeling doing something "original", yeah you heard it "original")
-don't even look good
Instead they are stars because:
-They look good
-Have a great pr-manager, hence an "interesting" image (remember tatu, the russian lesbians?)
-have a great songwriter
-slept with someone important
-got a porn video "accidently" floating around
-are rich
-went to american idol
and so on...
No wonder I usually only buy cd's of of indie labels, where imho the "real" artists are...(just discovered cocorosie and notwist, great stuff by the way!)
