in 2 german cities (essen and muelheim/ruhr) rwe (a german electricity company) wants to provide a powerline internet connection already in 1-2 weeks. see http://www.rwe-powerline.de/
it happens that i live in muelheim so i could use powerline if it weren't more expensive than dsl
infineon is the ic fab of siemens. infineon ram is really good and very popular here in germany. anyway infineon sdram modules were almost the only ones with a correct programmed eeprom in the last c't test
*sigh* you're damn right. remember 3dnow? since k6-2 it was on the market. at least 6 months before intel came with isse. but only a few developers adopted 3dnow. then intel released p3 with isse (maybe a bit technically superior but not so well documented) and ho! everybody uses isse. thats the only reason adobe photoshop is faster on intel cpus. now almost noone remembers 3dnow even if athlon &co use it. even amd decided to drop 3dnow for their sledgehammer and use isse2. that's sick! but that's intel. oh well then amd will also have a cpu that makes internet even faster *bitter laugh*
microsoft uses same tactics... see websites. most of them now are optimized for ie. not netscape, not w3c html4 conform, ie.
so i thing mr. hawking has to correct his nice litte book now...
what i do wonder is that the galaxies in a cluster do not collidate all in the middle of it because of their great mass. i suppose it's because of the space between single galaxies in a cluster are just too big or so.

hmm... the processor isn't designed for running benchmarks... it is made for running real apps. and it's kind of slow. AND... according to the newest german c't it's still slow at the third run
hm i used 2.3 since 2.3.1 and tried out almost every version. never had a problem or a crash anyway. it's pretty stable for me. hope it will be same stable for our new server...
That said, Transmeta's filed patents hint at technologies to make applications run considerably faster than they do now, at a given clock speed. So if you're willing to run them at standard speed, you could, we imagine, run the chip rather more slowly than your average PIII and thus make a big saving on power.
great news. ati cards are very good and i use them since '94 (now a rage fury) and tried out almost all of them. in former times all ati cards were equipped with drivers for multiple systems but unfortunately they are "windoofs only" now...
and because it is soon possible to play unreal4linux AND there's an ATI card in very very many computers AND the rage128's are fast, i defenitely WANT 3d acceleration for linux with my fury.
huh... thats exactly the same thing i use... another good one is "iwontsayit" hehe

always the same with (ex) monopolists.
just don't forget that those benchmarks aren't optimized for the t-bird either.

well... intel first kinda patented mmx... the competitors used mmx instructions, too. but they couldn't call their cpus mms cpus.
hit me if i'm wrong
