He said .5% of users CALLED INTO APPLECARE to report the problem. Obviously this leaves out a lot of people who took steps to either exchange or return or complain without actually making a phone call to AppleCare. Remember, Apple is an engineering company. They're great with numbers!

If your proposed solution is bringing up creationism, explaining these 'mistakes' and concluding that it has no business being here in science class (ideally wrapping all this up in 45 mins or so) then you have my support. Otherwise let's save the classroom time for explaining what science IS and not what it ISN'T.

  4. Re:unnecessary on No HD-DVD Movies Until April · · Score: 2, Insightful

Is it early to expect the market to begin the rollover to a completely new format (like VHS -> DVD)? Yes. But HDTV adoption is increasing steadily, and even non-tech-savvy consumers will start to notice that their DVD's look considerably worse on their new displays than the movies on TNTHD. Is the next-gen (whether its Bluray or HD-DVD) going to fail? No-- every HDTV that gets sold will also come with a natural sales pitch: You're not getting everything out of this purchase unless you're buying the HD-DVD player! Problem is, the sales weasels will be right.

With the Sony PSP, hackers were just happy to get a web browser working on it.

are you insane? the PSP has much greater problems with piracy of official games. i don't know how a) you think piracy of DS games is common, with the hoops you have to jump through and b) you had the PSP for 7 months and clearly an interest in this sort of thing and yet totally missed the MASSIVE homebrew scene that goes way beyond a browser (up to and including piracy).

that will never happen. the radios will just evolve.

    HD-Radio

it will sound as good as satellite. still free. and the radio is still the primary channel for mainstream music to actually become mainstream in the ears of the masses. sure, everyone will have an ipod or whatever in their cars pretty soon, but plenty of them are always looking for something new to consume, and the front page of the itunes music store isn't always going to cut it.
