  1. So will I on Is the Cyberterror Threat Credible? · · Score: 2, Interesting

That's another word for the filter, "Cyberterrorism."

I wonder how this stuff makes news anyway. Soon we'll have these pompeous dicks addressing games like WoW as "Cyber-cocaine," attempting to make it sound as if its addictive as the drug itself. Honestly who the hell comes up with these crappy titles? I mean, these are the same assholes who pulled that "Y2K" scam on everyone, people no different from making "Y2K compliant" appliances, and now, here we are again except we jumped from an alphanumeric word, into a strictly "Cyberterroristic" notion. Let me guess, "This computer is Cyberterror compliant?" Pfft, what a bunch of bs. Even judging from what other people on /. are saying, this stuff shouldn't even be in the news.

Another thing, what the hell is up with a "Digital Pearl Harbour" ? Last time I checked Pearl Harbour was deliberately planned by the US so they can get back at Japan. Not a hint or anything but these journalists (not to be confused with bloggers) have too much time on their hands when they try to convey what they think is going to happen and accidently forget to read up on history of World War 2. I'll be expecting "Trojan Airplanes" soon enough.

Nice 0-day "Nightmare" exploit, sounds so fun I might as well run my unix on a backup generator. Great change from September 11, 2001 assholes. You took a regular word and added "Terror[-ism]" to it. Real smooth.

  3. Re:When did all the minds close around here? on The MySpace Generation · · Score: 1

You make a good point, but some of us still detest MySpace for what it stands: Communcation between idiots as opposed to communication between people who use their time efficiently and not spend the whole day surfing through MySpace entries. Wait until MySpace starts charging (if they didn't catch on already)

Yes, I also oppose blogs, but thats just me.

  4. What the hell?. on The MySpace Generation · · Score: 1

I am adding BusinessWeek to my blocked site list.

    a) MySpace Generation

Appearantly these guys have created a whole new fad/culture/generation simply by posting ominious, useless blogs all over a website. I have to say, MySpace would only be good if we could have more Suicide entries. That last one kept some of my friends up all night trying not to laugh. They can take a pat on the back for what they've made; but let's face it: Where are people like Maddox? I don't see a "Slashdot Generation" either being mentioned in the news, filled with "1. something 2. ???? 3. profit!!!" entries.

    b) Promotional companies

It's kind of sad to see how far some companies (as mentioned in the article: Coca-Cola) to 'promote' their products through use of these .. "myspace users".

I think the _only_ reason this was created was because that kid killed himself. I am still laughing. Fucking brilliant. Kind of funny sometimes to see in how many ways you can construct the word "attention whore" and attach a modern-day occurence to it.

I am slowly awaiting a suicide on LiveJournal, followed by more articles from the media entitled "LiveJournal Jeneration" (note the J)

  5. What competition? on What's New With IE, Firefox, Opera · · Score: 1

The Web browser market hasn't seen the competition heat up for a while, but things are getting quite exciting, PC World reports. Right, a closed-source browser like IE against Firefox. Seems to me like IE wants to be a "feature-whore" more than a useful browser. Pfft. I used Opera until I saw Firefox, you can fill in the blanks.

Yeah I picked up that "underlying unix architecture is just superior" line to sound like some fatass fed it to him. Makes you want to ask people, "Oh really? What's the architecture anyway?" and watch them respond with "Well, hmm, err...."

  7. Can someone answer this.. on Flushing the Net Down the Tubes · · Score: 1

This isn't really trolling, it is quite relevant too:

Why must the majority of slashdot news revolve around the "Future" ? I see so many news articles that talk about some guy and how his blog has a little essay where he predicts the future.. blah blah, have the comments argue against it,half for it, etc... Why aren't there news of TODAY? I don't care if some should-have-been-a-blowjob posts on his blog that in the future we'll have to pay more fees for internet and be restricted to a small chunk of it. News is supposed to be News, and some asswipe telling his thoughts in a well-structured essay isn't news, it's opinion.

I thought Slashdot's slogan was "News for nerds. Stuff that matters." Well, some failure's opinion isn't news, and it doesn't matter.

As for the article itself, he's missing out the fact that such a movement to restrict Internet and make us pay for these "free" services will cause great tension and perhaps if we're lucky start a war between countries -- thats IF we're lucky --. Of course, like any other good soon-to-be-savior-like-Khan he gives us a "solution" from the get-go. Problem is: No one is going to follow through with it until it's too late, that is, if this happens.

    Those are my 2 cents,
    Jesus out.
