The thing is, it's no longer what it was. It's now invitation-only, and much smaller. So any clue who was invited and declined to attend? I had no idea it changed to invitation only. Still sad to see e3 change. Much time has been spent by this fan boy waiting for the next e3. Now I don't really care because I don't expect the grand announcements of the past.

Interesting thoughts. Yet even with the buyouts happening it seems game developing rock stars don't usually stay forever. I think indie development houses will be around for a long time and proven game developers will continue to demand top dollar and make money on their own. EA can't just swoop in a buy a development house that is privately held. Now lets be honest though if you own the place and EA offers to pay your retirement if you sell to them are you really going to say no?

If the market has stagnated, it is because developers have been targeting one demographic to the exclusion of all others. With that market nearly saturated, we're seeing some very interesting games again. While I agree with you I do think that placing the blame on marketers is fair. Instead game players and game purchasers deserve the blame. If interesting games sold well more of the time we would have more of them. As it is interesting games don't usually sell well.

Just keep in mind why he didn't respond to Bin Laden's threat. It was that Congressional opposition you're so fond of. I don't think that is true. Can you show me where congress prevented Clinton from troop deployment? Bosnia and random tomahawk missiles are about all I remember him doing in a military sense. I don't remember congress dragging his decisions through the mud on those points. The president is elected as a commander a chief after all. I feel Clinton was in his right to go into Bosnia or deploy the troops as he sees fit.

I agree with your posting and logic. I however don't agree that we as a country made a mistake going after Saddam. I think we gave credibility to the UN security council and it's resolutions and gave a country of 19 million a chance to reform their government. I don't think we have failed in that en devour yet. I support military action today as I did when we first took it. Yes Saddam didn't stock pile as much as was expected but he also frustrated weapons inspectors as they tried to do their job. The world felt it needed to support the UN resolution even though the kick backs from the oil for food program kept many of them from following through with it. I'm glad we did support the resolutions. I'm sorry for those men who give their lives for the cause but they have all volunteered to do so. I'd hate to see their sacrifice be in vain by us leaving too early.

In fact, the vast majority of people who complain about Clinton are opposed to him not because of his activities, but because they think he's a bad person. Interesting and here I thought I was opposed to president Clinton because he lied under oath, failed to respond to threats as a commander and chief, and tried to get congress to create a national health care system ( not that we don't already have a couple of them titled Medicare and Medicaid). But thanks for setting me straight. The thing I liked most about Clinton was that congress opposed him. When less gets done I'm a little more comfortable. Bring on the fighting between the branches.

My comments weren't directed at the technical merits of more storage. Obviously there are places where more data is important. I'm just commenting on the console market. I guess it doesn't make sense to me to develop an MMO like you describe for a console market. Sure there will always be a place for more room. And multiple disk games will happen. But having a handful of games that require the extra space may not make the best business case for a significant increase in the cost of the console. Also we have yet to see if the 60-100 dollar game will actually sell well enough to merit that kind of investment in development into the future. Content costs money to produce. I know tools are continuing to be written and used that make it easier. I was just wondering out loud how many developers are going to produce those kinds of games for the console market to require 20+ gig of storage on a disk.

I find it very interesting that in this generation people are concerned about needing more than a dual layer dvd to store game content. I don't work in the industry but I have to think that filling 9Gigs of data is a pretty impressive and expensive feet. I imagine development costs will be much higher for a game that requires that amount of space. Packaging it on one really expensive new Blu Ray disk or multiple easy to press DVD's is probably the least of the worries.
