    He didn't say it ran constantly, just that it did not depend on the browser running. Check your cron tables*.

    * I'm not running Chrome so I can neither confirm or deny the GPP but AC's post above is certainly not enough
    to convince me that GPP is definitely wrong.

    Yeah but it's not just TV anymore. I have a friend who mentioned he can't watch the Phil. 76er's because he has DirectTV. He pays for the NBA package and everything. But Comcast owns the 76er's and they are in a dispute with DirTV so he is SOL. Just one anecdote I know but these days Comcast et el. are not just TV providers, they own a ton of content, distribution channels and even sports teams. If they have their way, we'll change all right. We'll have U.S. Laws dictating how much a week we are to spend on entertainment. And we'll meet our quotas by continuously paying for the same content delivered on different media...

    I know, slight exaggeration, but really, these days, not by much.

    Corporate America has only the people at heart when lobbying for legislation that benefits them. To do anything

    Agreed, they had no problem identifying me when I was a young, not so great driver and ran a red light. No officer saw
    me and pulled me over. A camera affixed to the traffic light photoed my plate and I received a nice, personal ticket in
    the mail. No human interaction required...

    The plan hasn't been proceeding as fast as they hoped, so they seek to speed it up by spreading fear about v2.

    Yes because I'm sure the OSI and the Linux Foundation are only concerned with what's best for the FSF.
