And IMO it is wrong to say that emacs is just an editor, it is rather a full fledged editor and with JDE mode, combined with senator, cedet, it has most of the facilities which other IDE's do.
In addition, it has modes for programming in many languages, be it python, ruby, lisp or haskell.

Best of all, it is programmable, and student can hack their way to their own settings and idiosyncracies.

Are there any reasonable arguments to oppose this bid?

Any true Conservatives, should have rather supported this .xxx bid, as it will help in better blocking/controlling (atleast to some extent) pornography.

Or, maybe it is just another example of Orwellian doublespeak, maybe the Conservatives aren't really bothered about pornography and have some ulterior motives.

The quality of online editions of most Indian paper is horrible. I don't read the print edition, so I cannot comment on that. TOI might be the largest English newspaper, but definitely not a national newspaper.

Look at the headlines and the front page of TOI for any day during the last one year. Unless someone is using adblock, the page is full of ads, and the google ads which you see on a page are good indicator of what kind of material does it have. Compare it with any other tabloid newspapers.

Then the front page has sleazy pictures from indiatimes. The stories are titled in a way so as not to look professional but to titillate you, and the content is most of the time biased, and quite often badly written. Besides they give more importance and prominence to controversial stories than really important news. People die in mishaps or accident, and I get to know about them in BBC or NYT before I see them in TOI, a recent point in case is the stampede in Chennai, that speaks volume.

Unfortunately, there is no Indian English online newspaper which can be called national and is worth reading (Hindu is pretty good, but not national).

Whats wrong if one is? Genetically modifying crops, can result in a new breed of crops, which can be harmful, or bad for human health. You never know, what you end up with.

Killing diversity is no good. Mutations, do help in diversifying, but they do so over a very long period of time. And killing the existing bio-diversity in the hope that it will replenish itself in the future is just outright stupid.

I will go further. We want an OS which is more than a 'live cd', that is initially install the OS, configure everything the way you want and install all your applications, games etc. Now, once everything is done, burn it into a cd, and always boot from the cd.

If one wants to install another application boot from the cd, install the application, burn the new image. And there you go.

I think it is a neat idea, any VCs or clients interested? I have started a new company and I am planning to sell Linux distros, with the above capabilities.
