  1. I don't get it... on SanDisk Baits Apple And Woos Rockbox · · Score: 3, Insightful

Siding with Microsoft and a conglomeration of other Plays For Sure companies sure sounds like stickin' it to the man and independent thinking to me! *shakes head*

It is obvious that these companies don't get it. Instead of trying to compete by offering a compelling and highly integrated product they've moved on to what is essentially name calling. Next they'll say that every time you buy an iPod Jesus cries and kittens die.

Just produce a must-have product and the sales will take care of themselves! Until that time I'll keep buying iPods because that is what iPod+iTunes is!

  2. My MacBook Pro Benchmarks on MacBook Pro Benchmarks · · Score: 5, Informative

I also performed some MacBook Pro benchmarks on the MacBook Pros introduced at Macworld and my results may be of interest. While the report only includes a 1.83 GHz MacBook Pro, it does include comparisons to G4 PowerBooks and a Dual G5 PowerMac.

  3. MacBook Pro Speeds... on MacWorld MacBook Only a Prototype? · · Score: 2, Informative

I was able to run some real-world benchmarks on the preproduction MacBooks at MacWorld and wrote this MacBook Pro Performance Analysis. I compared the new laptops to previous G4/G5 systems and found that the new MacBooks are indeed faster than most previous systems. Nobody expected the old G4 PowerBook to come out on top but I was surprised how well the new Core Duo performed.

  4. I've been contacted too... on NYC & SF iPod Subway Map Controversy · · Score: 1

I run my own subway tool the BARTsmart BART Widget, an AJAX-powered Mac OS X widget that displays BART schedules and news. I too was contacted by BART regarding my use of the BART logo so it wasn't a surprise that the ipod map guy was contacted too.

The upside is, the rules are pretty lax. All he needed to do was interpret the copyrighted map and create his own version. How strict that is I don't know... perhaps all you need to do is run the original map through a Photoshop/GIMP filter.
