Is this agreement really something bad?

It's an innocuous chess move. It doesn't look dangerous but the conspiracy theorists and those that are predilected towards paranoia are probably right.

the US Trade Rep is negotiating TPP as if fast track authority is in place, acting as if it has the unilateral authority to further a one-sided agenda.

    https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/...
A small part of this goes back to an almost secret international agreement in the 80s to control and command the development of nations by trade. That's why 3rd world is still 3rd world: Command and Control.
You can't really blame the politicians of the signatory countries because this C&C operates under various trade agreements that on the surface seem to have nothing to do with world encompassing conspiracy, but there is enough circumstantial evidence for world wide social justice to pay attention to it.
So this pawn move doesn't directly implicate this agreement, it just makes it a little bit easier to manage.

caught up in tribal conflicts that have been going on for a couple of millennia; long before Islam

Almost. The current war are by 2 factions of muslims battling with each other right now. It is not solely for wealth but more for spiritual right of one faction over another*. Fortunately for the West, these internal battles has been going on for about 1400 years. So those tribal conflicts you speak of were settled long before Islam. That is Persia vs the rest of the world, later, Byzantine (Eastern Roman Empire) vs barbarian hordes etc.
Iran is old Persia that followed the teachings of Zoaroster, the Zoarostrian church was driven out by the muslims. The people of Iran are not arabic but Indian in origin. They are however muslim presently and are relatively stable. Turkey is muslim, but they have a secular government by choice and is stable. Saudi Arabia is run by a monarchy and is stable.
So the reason for why ISIS is going on about a Caliphate across geopolitical boundaries is for religion. They want to change the borders. That's why it's a mess. USA coalition tends to deal with political nations and not sweeping across border movements. ISIS's goal is unlikely as pretty much everyone is moving to secular forms of government. When it's all over, they will have 2 choices. Turn into a North Korea or elect ministers to deal with the rest of the world.

    * Roman Catholic vs Lutheran for example.

Metric bolt HEADS rarely conform to imperial sockets/spanners. a 13mm or 14mm metric is about equivalent to a 1/2". Using a spanner that is slightly larger than it's designed for will round the head of the bolt.
Personally metric spanners are a huge improvement over imperial measurement nomenclature like 3/8, 5/8, n/16 etc.

and the U.S. Netflix has no rights to distribute this copyrighted content in Canada.

I think you've got the PC before the Mountie here. The only blame that Netflix has is they make it very easy to illegally distribute geolocked licensed content since a user registration in any country is also a world wide registration. So Netflix themselves do not differentiate the user from Canada or NZ or Australia or UK from US users as long as it delivers content to a US IP. Now according to recent Netflix (3rd party) reports, they want to provide the same content everywhere but are not allowed to, not because of copyright, but local licensing agreements.
The content provider sells licences to a cable/satellte company in one country, but sells the same series to Netflix in another country. Thus the problem.
So it does come down to PC and the ethical issue of supporting your local cable/sat provider or stuff them and vpn to the content you want when you please.

Some of these flaws (maybe all) can be accessed by default logins. As soon as you have passed that, you have full control. To help prevent that you can change the device's IP and give it unique login credentials. It won't stop someone determined who wants access as all it needs is brute force to find the device's IP login page. In other words some of the vulnerabilities aren't device issues but user responsibilities. That pretty much goes for non-isp supplied routers.
A few ISP supplied routers do have backdoors and are remotely controlled ostensibly for the benefit of the user. In these cases it is almost impossible to alter the unit's IP address or login credentials.

Who gave him the printout in the first place? I doubt strongly that he searched for it, so one of his staff or personal fan handed it to him.
