Just because there are currently no space operas, doesn't mean there aren't geek shows...
BattleStar Galactica returns 4th April. There were rumours that someone was going to make a Wing Commander series when BSG was done.
Out of all those shows, I can't say any of them are really geek shows. They might have geeky bits in them but most of it is techno-babble and pseudo-science that is dumbed down to appeal to a wider audience. I'm not saying they're not good.. I watch 5 of them regularly.
I know you're trying to be funny but BSG returns April 4 with first half of 20-episode final season. Production on second half could start as early as March. Airdate for those TBD.
That still doesn't give any reason why people who create copyrighted works should get special privileges. What you said applies to everyone, not just artists/authors etc.
and possibly help their family after they're dead.
I've never understood that part.. why should the family (usually not a family but a company anyway) get to live off someone else's work? Is there some reason why the family of an artist/author/creator of whatever cant earn a living like most other people on the planet? Why do they deserve special treatment? Its not like they contributed to society in any way.
Also, fiber is likely to get cheaper as its used more, copper will go up in price as more of the world gets net connected and reserves fall.
From Wikipedia:
The Earth has an estimated 61 years of copper reserves remaining. Environmental analyst, Lester Brown, however, has suggested copper might run out within 25 years based on a reasonable extrapolation of 2% growth per year.
Also, they only mention not going after downloaders. I dont think the RIAA has begun to target downloaders yet, they seem content going after uploaders (for now) & those running the file-sharing websites & networks.
In North America squirt guns are not allowed to resemble real guns so they cant be used for bank robberies etc. With the shoot first interrogate later mentality of most cops nowadays its probably a good thing. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Squirt_gun
Part of the reason why OS X is liked & so stable is because it can fairly easily be tested on every possible variant of Mac hardware. It would be impossible for Microsoft to test every possible PC setup (which is why they dont bother trying). They release early beta versions and use the in-built phone home features to report bugs.
Even with no support included they would be swamped with users complaining that it didn't work or was unstable for any number of reasons.
The Antiguans have formally requested to be allowed to suspend their obligations to the US. If this is granted, they could threaten to sell cheap DVDs & Microsoft software to recover the money. I doubt they would do that, but its more likely a threat to get them to pay.
Provide every customer/employee with their own personal radio while they're on the premises. Make it tunable only by the staff so they're all fixed to the same station.
Then why, when I play my hi-fi so loud my neighbour bangs on the wall, am I not guilty of copyright infringement by making my loud music available to be recorded by my neighbour?
You are but the RIAA doesn't have the technology to track those kinds of violations yet.

B5 The Lost Tales (DVD #2) - no idea.
I agree. Watch Hidden Fortress if you want to see C3PO & R2D2 done properly.

It seems to be more about stopping Comcast/BT style bandwidth throttling than trying to stay anonymous.

Manufacturers do not assume liability if their product is used to perform illegal activities.
That has never stopped the media companies from going after software that enables copyright infringement.

Customers who bought this book also bought "The Catcher in the Rye"
