Agreed. I have a windows partition. it is used for games (and once in a while checking email while I'm flying from TB to Ogrimar). That's it. Windows is an overbloated gaming console.
The onion is obviously humor. there's no reason to assume that any reasonable person could assume it's fact. To think so shows a distinct lack of understanding. we can't possibly write laws to cover up for blatant stupidity. This will fall falt because no reasonable person would ever assume that the onion was an official mouthpiece of the goveronment or that anyhting they said was more than loosely based on fact. Only stupid people think that. really . . . really . . . REALLY stupid people.
Microsoft has never sais that open source wasn't less expensive on individual boxes (say for personal use). Not that I'm taking their side because . . . eww . . . microsoft, but all they've really said, as far as I know, is that linux isn't cheaper in a corporate environment. I don'tbelieve that, but I think it CAN be true under average circumstances.
And here's a thought for the author of this article . . . i think gaim looks just fine. Just as pretty as it should be. if you want kid-like bells, whistles, and big foolish buttons . . . skin it yourself, doofus.
