Damn it, I read your post wrong. Not really. You'd need to ensure that someone with multiple accounts couldn't just abuse the system like it's done now. I don't know the details of how it would be done though. I'm an idea man!;)
I haven't done any modding or level creation recently, but wasn't Quake 1 subtractive as well? I remember building levels using subtraction a lot and I loved the method.
I wonder how that applies to "serious gaming" or gaming for training purposes. You aren't directly profiting by creating the training, but in training your employees you improve the overall bottom line. I didn't see any point in the licenses that mention it. (I admit, I did just skim through it though...)
Frankly, I have no problem with that model to help indie and poorer developers make their mark. It improves the field by keeping companies on their toes constantly improving and allows people with little/no upstart cost get a foot in the door.
I actually think that Troll mods should decrease the mods rating as well. This would make people carefully consider "wasting" points on people that they disagree with and a troll mod would hold more power since someone gave up rating to mark it. On top of that, a threshold could be set to permanently remove said post and return points to modders that accurately reported it.
I'd beg to disagree. A resume shouldn't be an advertisement. It should be a historical record of your work history. If you are making it into an advertisement, I'm sure you are using it more than I am. When the company that hires you finds out you up-sold yourself and your experience, do you improve the wording in your resume to try to make yourself sound that much better for the next place to fire you for incompetence?
Yes, I did. Did you even call Comcast to see if they offered guaranteed connections? How about your local phone company, or do you just enjoy ranting about how people don't read Why isn't a T1 an option. I'm curious. Is it price? Because having a dedicated guaranteed bandwidth isn't cheap.
Then I suggest you look at their Business Class Connection offers: http://business.comcast.com/ You know, if it's that important for your work. I suggest you talk to them about guaranteed bandwidth and get it in writing. That's probably one way, but that's just me.
"if you're running an internet-based business from home."
If you are running an Internet based business from home, you should be getting an business account. They DO have them and they ARE more expensive... but you get a better service with them. That's the point of paying more. You are getting some guarantee that you will have bandwidth you need... even if it's Comcast throttling the neighbor's bittorrent... A consumer account is not something you get for business needs and required bandwidth. A consumer account is what you get for games, email, browsing and porn (unless you make some money off it.)
I don't. They are the only commercials I've seen for national dialup and it happens to be the first Google link. I'm just too lazy to search for others.
Broadband is not a staple of life. Even for geeks. If you are talking about Gas or Electric in the winter time... then yes, I understand your argument. Living without broadband Internet won't kill you.
You can always sign up for a NetZero account if you need internet and are sick of broadband companies. They don't have a "monopoly" on your Internet service yet.
It's not unique. I just think that people have grown ignorant to contracts and small print. You did research and asked the right questions. Others just assumed. And you know what happens when you do that...
You know advertisement and your contract are two different articles, right? Did you read your contract when you signed up? I haven't lived in a Comcast area for almost 5 years now, but I remember seeing a clause in the paperwork stating that the speeds mentioned are peek only.
I suppose you argue with "Made for TV" ads that tell you their product is able to be cleaned in 3 seconds as well.
This is the real solution. I find it funny that people assume that they are going to get full peek bandwidth at all, let alone 24/7. ISPs obviously can't provide full bandwidth 100% of the time so they have to throttle the power users. The Internet couldn't handle such traffic let alone most switches and routers. If they can, the ISP would have to pay out the can for such equipment. If you want a dedicated full throttle Internet connection, the ISPs can help you out, but you're going to pay for it.
If just feels to me like people are complaining about the quality of their $.99 cheeseburgers. They want real beef, but they won't pay for it. Yet another "I'm special and my needs are more important than you!" article.
So, are you saying it's better if we trust the opinions of someone sitting in the closed off world of the metropolis instead of the man providing your food, fixing your transportation, keeping your power lines on, building your house, or one of the many other things "red necks" do?
I mentioned something similar for speed ratings before where you get a classification strip on your fender for your ability to handle your car at speed and even have limitations on lane usage for less than stellar drivers... but it'll never happen.
On a two lane road, is half a lane really an avenue of escape? On the highways they usually build these additional side parts shoulders... to be used in emergency situations... hint, hint.
I was driving back from my parent's this weekend late at night and I had some deer run out in front of me. It doesn't matter what side of the road you are on, or the middle, you are not going to dodge deer. They are highly unpredictable. If I would have swerved to go behind the deer, I'd be eating deer right now because it turned around and went back half way. I was better off in my lane and stopping in my lane like I did.
Because Japan doesn't have the landmass... they have fewer lines to lay and less overhead.
I question if looking to Australia is still a bad idea because they generally have most of their population along the shores, right? Our problem is that we have such a landmass with people spread out. Obama always likes to think of "everybody" when he does something and thinks that my parents who live 50 miles from the nearest major city need ultra fast broadband.
A parallel can be draw on many different coordinates, but it's generally a straight line. Are you saying that your sexiness so erratic that nobody could possibly draw that parallel?;)

I'm confused. How was that a troll?
Escape pods with parachutes. Damn, where's my patent money on that.
Poor Helicopter. If only the cost of treatment wasn't so high. I wonder if it has insurance.

How much do you pay for Slashdot only Internet? Can you give me tips on how I can get my ISP to only serve me content from this site?

Or http://www.netzero.net/ ... not exactly as dramatic as "fuck you" though.

Broadband/Dial up/Nothing. I'm sure there is a NetZero number in your area. You have a choice. You may not like it, but it's a choice.
