The Bechdel test makes some (although not much) sense for a movie
The Bechdel test originates from a shitty comic strip. One starts to wonder if feminists shouldn't start being more picky about their sources just like Wikipedia does (at least), just because something sounds clever doesn't mean it makes a sense to use it as a standard to judge every other media.
So the test makes no sense for anything actually, and actually many films who are considered empowering to woman don't pass the test, just because these woman in history have not been in a position to find people of their same gender to talk about their professional issues (WHICH IS IN MANY CASES THE POINT OF THE FINE MOVIES).
If only we have software that we could trust, that we could see the code. And that when one vendor starts doing this, we'd be free for forking the project and making one without the bundled spyware. We could even come up with a license that protects this code, and ensures that everyone that forks the project has to respect the liberties of the user in the same way.
I'm not an engineer and probably not qualified for saying this. But it seems like it has plain(straight) feet. Doesn't that make it harder to walk? I mean human feet seems to support itself mainly with the heel and the ball of the feet, leaving a concave opening with soft tissue. Our feet seem to adapt when we step on something we don't try to balance a straight surface on it.
May I once again posit that war is not a natural result of being human, but rather one put upon mankind by strong, selfish, sociopaths that profit from it?
Can you provide a proof of that? us vs them mentality has driven men to war from the stone age to this day. We always found a way to hate and kill each other, mainly because of our primal instinct of protecting our people from the unknown. Or in some cases war has been justified as a legitimate means to end some sort of injustice.
What you say sounds very nice, and I bet it felt good to write it. But fear and violence are part of our most basic programming, and it's something that we slowly started to drive off in most advanced societies (mainly because most of our primary needs are being satisfied).
Space traveling doesn't mean that we had found a way to end scarcity (probably being colonists on new planets mean that we have other issues and problems worth fighting for), or to evolve beyond our capacity to hate each other.
Civ5 is unplayable for me, I'm not a hardcore gamer but I think an 8 core pc with 8 gb of ram and a SSD should handle an old strategy game . It becomes somewhat playable if I turn off the City States ( at least until the renaissance epoch) which are BTW one of the stupidest game mechanics they could possibly introduce.
Luckily Civ4 runs great on WINE.
And then Depression quest comes and says basically "nope! indie games are now HTML files because i have relationships with kotaku",
How is that so? there are a lot of good videogames still being developed. This reminds me of people who were born in "le wrong generation" because they found out that listening to Led Zeppelin is cooler and edgier than Miley Cyrus, and they can be smug about it saying that no one makes good music nowadays which is wrong because if you don't live with your head up your ass you'll find that there are a lot of good music being made by a lot of lesser known artists
Videogames are in the same status, there is a lot of mainstream shit but it's easy to find good games focused on gameplay, and honestly I don't see how they are threatened, since following the devblogs of many cool games they don't really seem affected. And we are talking of not so indie developer studios such as Paradox Interactive, CD Projekt and Amplitude studios come just to name a few.
I don't really identify myself as a gamer, but really dude, no one is taking away the fun for you.
Sorry but I'm not a native english speaker and that sounds confusing as hell. If you guys/girls are going to do shit like that you should really come up with a new standard way to get into your language because that's not how is being thaught around the world. Or better, why not use he/she like that? Or that would offend people that identify themselves as potato?
In that case you can then add he/she/it and it's still more correct than "them".
It's important. If you don't think it is, try looking for any gendered pronoun in (say) the Eclipe Documentation [eclipse.org] (Think IBM) or in the Java Tutorial [oracle.com] (think Oracle).
So what's this:
So a performer having the role Callcenter Agent can initiate the support case management process after he has received a support call.
They are expecting people to change the happy whale for just an ugly rocket. That's not the way the Go community rolls. Everybody knows that cute mascots are the most important part of a good software.
Being anti-corporation is one of the things that linux was founded on
[citation-fucking-needed] Seriously, why you guys pull shit like this out of your ass all the time, maybe YOU are anti-corporations but don't extrapolate your idiotic opinion to an entire collective of people that you don't represent (Linux devs). There are many corporations involved in Linux development from its very beginning Caldera, SUSE, Red Hat and many others. Luckily linux devs always thought of linux as an actual useful thing that can be used for real work, not a ego-boosting circlejerk machine for hipsters.
but you let corporations like Redhat do the same thing?
Because they are not forcing you to use SystemD, you can roll your own distro whenever you want, that's the point of Free Software. If you don't know how to do it, then you have nothing to say against those people who actually do know but don't choose to try to please you.

Ohh well, I guess one can just dream
N'wah
wastes cycles.
I should know, I've wasted 3 cycles with this crap, now I use fluxbox and I can ride all day without worrying about wasting my cycle like that.
Well, it won't make closed source any better if you just go pointing out bugs in Linux.
It takes more than Photoshop skills to earn the title of UX Designer.
Yeah, severe brain damage.
It's not as tightly bound as the Borg
It seems that you have never talked to Argentina's ruling party supporters
Nice tradeoff.. I don't really need a social life anyway.

I wish they'd import some of the Civ4 concepts to Freeciv, so that we can enjoy it as well outside Windows
give it a shot with wine, it works flawlessly.

did he make any comment about his lawn and how should young people should keep off from it?
yeah, because writing a script which can be run by simply clicking on it is so hard for the generation that actually works with their Linux boxes.
There, fixed.
but! but! muh unix way!

. As a long time C hack (still am) I concur.
Behold. A C program that has gained sentience.
, and you've got to run it through an interpreter
My god... did you... what?... Ok... this guy doesn't know shit about what he's talking about. Go is compiled.

We should fork mint and make a version with only Cinnamon available.
If you think that "unstable" means "it will always work like a final product" you're a fucking moron.
grind the bones of the dead into banana paste
I'd think that the cause of that tribe dying might be linked to the fact that they had bones made of bananas in the first place.
