Also, what do u think they mean by opposing cease fire and instead advocating for sustainable peace, while the whole infrastructure (including power plants, roads, hospitals, damns etc) of 3 million ppl nation is turned into ashes and while 800 civilians die under rubbles. You my friend need to seek for a news source other than Faux news, fair and balanced (TM)

    1) this guy has doen a very effective friend whoring
    2) ./ers find his utterly ridiculous claim of fair and balanced faux news amusing and would like it to be visible
    for the rest of us to read and laugh.
    3) there are a lot more republicans/neo-conservatives reading ./ than what is commonly believed.

    If i had to pick one i would say (2) is the most probable.

    I had to go through the same system in Greece. I agree that it is not a good system at all although i was among the lucky ones. Some countries however do not have the option of assigning university acceptance to possibly corrupted university commitees. From what I know, neither Greeks or Chinese (and many many others) place trust on the acceptance commitees for deciding their kids future based on subjective criteria like high school grades, voluntary work etc.

    Ok, by now I got used to this new layout and kind of filtered out what really annoyes me and what not. So, i would prefer if the mod points of each comment where to the left and not to the far right. It is annoying having to look at the end of the line to see whether or not the comment is most likely to be good.

    Any reasons why gmail does not make the list? From all the s/w products of the last 2 years gmail has dramatically changed the way i organize my email. It is a great improvement over previous paleolithic approaches. Every time i check my old hotmail and yahoo account I cannot help but wonder how i manages to live without gmail all these years and then i burst in laughs for all those milions that still use hotmail and keep it in the top of the list of web mail apps.

    That's true, and it appears that the couple not only did not have the decency to thank him for his deed but on top of that it appears that they suspect him. The article or they themselves presented it as if the guy is under suspicion for blackmail!

    Yet they should be worried because most likely where accessed by the crooks that sold the disk to the good samaritan.

    I don;t have the time to pull the article that had those statistics, and googling for the specific statistics is extremely time consuming. BUT I did not use as my source an airbus document, UNLIKE you who used a boeing document. There are a million ways one can bias these statistics and I bet this paid commercial boeing leaflet you are referring to does exactly that.

    Are you suggesting that Airbus is not a reliable plane manufacturer? Just juxtapose their accident record with the one of US-made planes. I think they are better by 10-20% ... I would trust their controllers and their frames with my life any time. I cannot say the same about the Boeing plane that killed a distant relative of mine over Athens last year.

    Not to mention that OO crashes all the time, and consumes the shit out of your RAM. However, kudos to the development team for providing a linux alternative for office s/w tools and for continuously improving their software. It won't be long until OSS office tools surpass the quality of M$ Office. btw, wasn't google going to adopt the OO project or sthng? what happened to that idea?

    Allow me to disagree with you: the worst piece of crap was his book on computer networks. Just a bunch of meaningless buddles of sentences that had nothing to do with systems design principles. Good thing Peterson's and Kurose's books are now pushing that crap out of university classes and to oblivion.

    And no Tanenbaum is not among the elite of ystems researchers, not even close. Just check his publication record.
