The GPS Watch: The Garmin Forerunner 10. It's waterproof and fairly minimal in terms of features. It does exactly what a runner's GPS watch should do and nothing more. https://buy.garmin.com/en-US/U...
The iPod: The current generation of iPod Nano has built in Bluetooth. Sweat being a problem - don't wear it on the arm. Get a clip to stick it on the waistband. The HHiCase (or roocase) works pretty well. http://www.apple.com/ipod-nano...http://www.amazon.com/iPod-Nan...
The Headphones: YurBuds makes an excellent product (Liberty Wireless) that wraps over the ear, resists sweat and water, and allows ambient noise to reach the wearer for safety. http://www.yurbuds.com/en/wire...
I used all three of these in my first Marathon last year. Nothing failed.
What next -- 'Spammer's House' in another sweepstakes?.
Most spammers hide in Florida. Why Florida? Because in Florida you cannot take someone's house like you can take thier Porche or pet monkey or whatever. So, don't expect to see a house on the block.
There's a company called Micromem Technologies, Inc. that is nearly ready to produce the non-volatile memory that we're all talking about. Follow the link and read their yahoo profile.
And then you say, "But I did have to Fork out 60 bucks to get to your stupid concert and I also bought your stupid T-Shirt for another 40 bucks. So that's 100 of my dollars that you now have for my 2 hours of un-garaunteed music." I'm not saying that taking the music off the Net is legal, but it sure does offset the money made off of CD sales. MUSIC COSTS TOO MUCH. I see downloads as a nice way to protest the cost of that.
Quit your job. Get to Market. If you're not willing to take the risk then sell your product to the company you work for. You could have managed this product better by getting some investors or even friends to help you out while you developed it. I think all you people whining about "don't sign that" and what not are pretty weak too. Remember always that you have to THINK before you DO anything. So why didn't you THINK of this SOONER?!
You always have a choice, you just have to be willing to take the risk! If you can't handle the risk then don't develop any products on your own.
This is just like that james bond movie where they stole the secret computer LEDs that controlled the GPS satelite and steared a sub offcourse and then sank it. How cool is that?
I work in the internet advertising industry and the people here are not so stupid.
Pop-Up Ads
I don't see your stats on the popup ads, but i can tell you from experience that the return rate on popups is far better than that of banners and email drops combined.
Interstitials
Interstitials may not be the best way to improve a user experience but if there is incentive enough for the user to stick around they will go through with the interstial process. Some ad agencies are smarter than others and know when to say when.
Conclusions
The ad industry is going to continue to roll with the punches just like every other industry does. Some players are not going to be as smart as others but it's certain that when one technology is beaten to death another will come around to replace it. If you don't like to see the ads then stick to the.edus.
Laptop users have always suffered the lack of expansion. I've looked everywhere for a PCMCIA graphics card so i could add monitors at full res. One thing this could use is an AGP. Could their bandwidth support such a thing?
I think this is a great alternative for those of use who live and die by our laptops. I could personally stand having two of these, one for home and one for the office.
i think what you have to keep in mind with free speech, evan as it applies to code, is that there are limits in some areas. shouting fire in a crowded theater cannot be defended by the ideal of free speech. similarly, i believe that disruptive programming can and will fall into a similar category.
This tilt sensoring tech will make classic games like pinball more true to the original with tilt thresholds in place you can 'cheat' like you used to. does anyone know if it can sense changes in overall accelleration? you could make an interesting tracking device or even a golf swing adjuster for it. the palm truly is turning into the tricorder from star trek.
