I doubt that attractive people are far less likely to pay attention to mental pursuits, it seems that people just pay less attention to what they have to say.
The idea that the Greeks and Romans saw the body and mind as intimately connected is what really got me interested in exercise in the first place. I used to be somewhat anti-physical, but all of those feelings went away when I saw how much better I felt after I started to exercise regularly.
It seems as though our society is still influenced by the idea of the intellectual that completely rejects the physical world and solely devotes himself to the world of thought. I've come to think of this as the result of our Christian heritage. The idea that in order to live in the service of god one must reject the physical world and solely devote oneself to the spiritual.
