I personally think that its a great idea, would probably get me paying for some MMORPG's. But the added cost of generating a billing system to support that along with them losing money from people now only paying $3 a month for their time where they used to think it worth the $10-15 would stop it quick
Not only is the guy a piece of crap spammer, hes also a psycho. Good thing he is locked up, maybe the amount of spam floating around will decrease by some small fraction of a percemt
Its all well and good that they are removing the CD's from the shelves and providing a half assed "removal" but I think they need to pay. Sony has shown that they will do whatever it takes to make sure that they dont lose a single penny to some pirate, even to the point of throwing out some pretty dangerous code and then sending out even more dangerous code to "fix" the problem.
It may be harsh to say, but they need to pay for the removal and cleanup of all affected PC's. They sure want harsh fines imposed on others, so why should they be any different. This is a case of "do as i say not as I do"
For the first time I'm actually impressed with a linux based device. Most of they time its a great idea but poorly implemented or at a price point that scares me away or lacking crucial features. This looks like a nice device and at a VERY attractive price point. Now if I can somehow convince the wife that I need one...
But I personally see no problem with bundling their client with the operating system, or even the media player for that matter. Most users use the computer as an appliance, they want it to just work. They dont want to go find an IM client and media player and install it, they expect it to just be there. If you dont like it, remove access to it via GPEDIT.
What I DO have a problem with is the amount of "digging" the average person has to do to find a way to remove them if they dont want them there.
Sorry for the fanboi rant, but ATI is going to have to do some SERIOUS work to catch up to nVidia at this point. With Crossfire being pretty much a joke and their top of the line card still not besting nvidias now second string card I see a good deal of the gaming community losing faith in them quick.
Even being a huge nvidia fan I see this going one of two ways, either Nvidia will crush ATI and they will be the lone wolf in the graphics industry thus bringing innovation to a halt and bringing prices even higher OR ATI will come back with a vengence and even the score. I am hoping for the latter because even though I want Nvidia to succeed, its always bad to have only 1 real player in a particular market.
Oh no, where am I to get my warez now!? Whats that, theres still IRC, newsgroups, kazaa, bit torrent, emule, and hijacked FTP? Whew, there for a second I thought I was going to have to start PAYING for my digital entertainment.
To hate windows so bad that you would suffer through a 4 minute boot time AND pay $140 for it is a problem and you should really seek psychiatric advice, its just not healthy
If they want to call it stealing then it should have the same penalties as stealing, but it seems that they want harsher penalties since the "theft" is digital. Somehow this just doesnt make sense.
Looks like sony wants to have their cake and eat it too. If its not legal to rip their music. Then how is their MP3 player supposed to be filled? I guess its ok to rip OTHER peoples music.
By reading this post you agree to send me (NVP_Radical_Dreamer) funds in the amount of $10.00 USD. If you do not like this, too bad you have already read it and it cannot be returned.
Wow, I guess this is what passes for news these days. Maps like these have been around for ages, but slap them on a LCD projector and have some guy stand in front of front of it to project a cool looking shadow and you have a news story. Insert "move along people" line here
It would probably be a waste of good money, but I'm actually thinking of paying the $15 to buy a POS DRM cd just so I can test out my ability to return it when it doesnt work on my PC.
I've been boycotting Sony for the last couple years, I refuse to buy their hardware, audio cds, DVD's, Video Games, etc etc.
If the rest of the/. crowd would do the same we wouldnt be sitting here bitching about it since we would be speaking with our wallets and not with empty words. When the cash stops flowing, they will either stop the BS or just blame/. for lost revenue and sue us all for $600,000
I for one would still be upset at having purchased a CD where each time I loaded it in a windows PC the software would be installed and I would have to go through the whole process of removing it with their "service pack"
I personally think that replacement discs without the Digital Rights BS are in order.
This sounds like every sports game ever made, just update the graphics, the player names and throw in a gimmick.

1. Install rootkit that contains licensed code without telling users 2. ???? 3. Profit!

I typed Microsoft + Consumer Friendly into my thesaurus and it gave me Oxymoron.
Talk to me when they have a 5.1 view of the sun

I'd sure hate to see someone LOOSE everything

It costs almost $100 more and is faster? What are the odds...
Side scrolling camera shot anyone?
Are the result of their OS and hard^H^H^H^H Ipod
What is this security thing that you speak of? There will never be a secure computing environment as long as we have users

If the rest of the
That would work if most music outlets would actually LET you return the album. Most will only replace with another of the same
