    As I said, at least it is not a link to a blog, that links to another blog, etc.

    There are no advertisements on the screen I went to, not counting the story itself though. That is actually an improvement over most stories presented on slashdot.

    As long as the money is siphoned off to cronies then yes the Russian government will be more than happy to sink billions of dollars worth of rubles into the project for 20 years or so, in fact they may be able to go for 40 years, but nothing is getting off the ground.

    Wouldn't it be more efficient to propel such a set up with air pressure?

    Push in as much air as possible behind the train while sucking it out of the other end. Have the whole thing run by large fans on either end.

    Except for being the wrong plane for the job.

    It is a surveillance plane, not a bomber and not a fighter.

    It takes pictures and goes fast and there is no room for carrying ordnance. It can't even take off with it's fuel tanks full.

    This story is regarding AMD CPUs, not AMD GPUs.

    Currently Linux supports the features of AMD's current CPUs better than it is supported on the Windows side of things.

    And whenever you bring up the tap water being flammable issue the deniers claim that those peoples tap water has always been this way and therefor doesn't matter.

    There is nothing in what you said that should prevent women from getting an education.

    Just because they get an education, that doesn't mean that they are required to get a job. An education is good even for people who do jobs that don't require one. Education introduces us to different ways of solving problems and different ways of thinking creating a more well rounded person.

    The Iranian people would like to do this on their own, they do not want US intervention and they would fight US intervention.

    The US can apply external pressure, but it would be detrimental if they applied internal pressure.

    I find anymore that when it's time for a new CPU, it's time for a whole motherboard.

    I have been using AMD for a number of years now and I have not had to change my motherboard and CPU at the same time ever since the AM2 socket. In fact when I upgrade my CPU next I will be going down the line to people who I have handed off old motherboards and processors and upgrade them down the line, ie: upgrade sisters computer, take cpu from sisters computer and put it in nephews computer, etc etc.

    I always find it funny that Republicans started spouting conspiracy theories as soon as Bush was out of office.

    Now that Obama is in office the President is not an American and is put in place by a vast conspiracy going back to before he was born and now we have a weather manipulating device to destroy the GOP convention, but we didn't have it back when Katrina fucked over New Orleans.

    I can't wait for my relatives to start talking about chem trails.

    If I wanted to go out with a bang a gun show would definitely be the place to do it.

    You shoot someone and all of a sudden EVERYONE has a gun in their hands looking for someone else with a gun in their hands.

    It may be suicidal, but don't tell me it would not be a clusterfuck of epic proportions as everyone tries to be a hero.

    Isn't it bad for a company that aims to prove that they can reinvent themselves?

    Microsoft has absolutely no interest in re-inventing themselves, they are trying to re-invent their customers.

    Their customers of course have no interest in being re-invented.

    I think as long as it is semi-automatic and you don't sell it you should be ok.

    Though if you make a really powerful one, they may decide it violates other unspecified laws and take it away.

    I figured the new logo would be a stylized graphic of Balmer bending a customer over a table and shoving an apple up the customers ass. Of course, I did poorly at marketing.

    This is Microsoft you are talking about here.

    This was designed by multiple committees each of which would only support their own design.

    After 3 months of deliberations Balmer sat in on a committee meeting and determined the winner by lining up the different executives that ran each committee and then started throwing chairs at them. The last one standing won.
