  1. Already Exists! on Pen-Sized Color Scanner Reviewed · · Score: 1

Done already, cheap, and really pretty good.

$428.36 from Amazon, maybe cheaper elsewhere

    The FUJITSI SCANSNAP FI-5110EOX2

Duplex, Color, Auto sheet feeder, 600DPI Scans to PDF or Word etc, including OCR software.

it can even scan A3 documents in one go, if you fold them first.

Can't really beat it for the price.

The only major difference between this and the Fuji scanners costing twice the price is that these models are (intentionally?) crippled by lack of TWAIN drivers, which can be a pain.

And Civ... Don't Forget Civ !

That's a war game if you play in a certain way - and also has a board game version.

    Has anybody tried that out?

  4. What a *cool thing* ! on Microsoft Plans Deliberate Xbox 360 Shortage · · Score: 1

Xbox.com: Tell me another cool thing about the guts.

JR: Well, we want to discourage hackers, so this time around we didn't put any screws on the outside of the box and have multiple tamper evident labels. So with Xbox 360 we'll be able to tell if they've cracked the case.

Cool. And by cool I mean totally sweet. I was gonna hold out for a PS3, but this killer feature has swung it for me!

Run as a regular user. Users group.

Then, if (when) you need to install something, or run a program that needs administrative privileges, right click it and "Run as" Administrator (or user with administrative privileges).

This is the same kind of thing as 'sudo' in linux.

You'll get a lot less shit on your system this way, still not perfect but better.
