  2. Re:Perhaps Comcast is just inadequate? on Comcast Accused of Blocking VoIP · · Score: 1

Comcast has delivered me nearly continous 6mb/384kb for some time. More than sufficient for VOIP and a home network with the help of http://dd-wrt.com/ with QOS. Also I have never had any issues with port blocking and I run SSH/VPN/HTTP/Shoutcast/Skype/Vonage off of this connection (low traffic for my personal use). Compared to other companies that have been a pain to me: Sprint, Verizon Wireless, Bell South.. I've always considered Comcast OK as far as service goes. I don't have Vonage anymore to test this out, but my skype calls are working fine still.

So the crippled Java is a drawback still, but hopefully this answers you.

I've been using express network once in awhile over bluetooth for over a year now.
The thing that kind of bugs me with this new service they offer is that it's $60 a month. I really appreciate having the connection available when needed, but I use it only once every few months at most. No way I'm going to fork over $60 for this. Wondering if they will now clamp down on my occasional usage.

  4. Why would any company actually pay this? on BellSouth Will Charge Providers For Performance · · Score: 1

Why on earth would any company actually pay the fee. The profits lost from not being able to provide to BS customers is nothing compared to what they stand to lose if this becomes reality for many ISPs. Apple is a perfect company to take a stand. If they refuse to pay and are somehow shut out from BS's customers then BS will have a backlash from those not able to access itunes. Assuming this works out for BS, then every ISP would follow suit and there would be a huge amount of money going from content providers to ISP's. All the content providers have to do now is say no and alienate BS until this all goes away.

  5. IEM Eaphones on Earbud Headphones May Cause Hearing Loss · · Score: 1

IEM's or In Ear Monitors actually seal in the eardrum for passive isolation. They look similar to earbuds, but sound better, especially at low volume. Just got a pair and absolutely love them. If you are looking to move on from your buds check them out.
