I CAN handle my alcohol and drive. Unlike everyone else. I'm experienced. I should be allowed to speed, because I can handle the situation. Unlike everyone else. I can handle red lights. I know when to go through them or not. I'm experienced.
The fact is, that being on a phone raises the chance of a crash. Sure some experience comes into play, but why not simply pull over, and totally eliminate the chance of crashing?
Just because it hasn't happened, doesn't mean it wont.
Thats true of a democracy, but we are a liberal democracy, and the liberal ideaology, traditions and conventions *should* stop that from happening. So much for a small government that is free of regulation.
That said, it is true that draconian laws have been passed here (Australia) in recent years.
This law also extends to SMS.
And on another note, this has got me thinking what those two telecom workers were doing outside my house when I got home today....:)
I use google and in turn the very lyrics sites to find songs that I have stuck in my head. For example, you only know a few words and from them, more often than not you can find the song.
THEN I now use the online iTunes store to go and purchase that song. So they get thier hard earned cash, I get my song.
If the lyrics sites are to be taken down, there goes searching for those songs and I will just have to not buy the song.
Instead of turning off people's air conditioning, why not install a meter in people's home that displays the current cost of electricity.
As demand increases and supply falls, the electricity price becomes more expensive.
That way, people are responsible for deciding if they want air conditioning at 18 degrees Celsius or 24 degrees Celsius or at all.
Does it support offline messages? Anyone know why MSN doesn't provide this?

I also read once that sunscreen can give you skin cancer too, if used too much. I think these days dying is the ONLY safe option.
