Why not just "no comment"? Would it have been quite as big a story if Sony had just refused to comment instead of throwing out lots of threats? Does Microsoft do this? I know Apple sues, but what do other companies do when faced with this kind of thing? Did Sony ask them to hold off on the story, or try to work with them, or just throw out threats?
Speaking as an admitted fanboy, I gotta say I'm a little apprehensive, but excited too. It looks like some of these games could end up being quite a workout, and I can see myself breaking lamps and knocking stuff off the coffee table on a regular basis. The graphics look like a modified gamecube, but that's the point, right? It seems like Nintendo recognizes the approaching end of the super-hyper-realistic-all-new-better graphics highway, and they just veered onto the exit ramp to get-off-the-couch-and-do-something. My wife will love it, as there's some actual physical activity involved and a lower degree of difficulty.
As for the actual details, I wanted to know the obvious date and price, but a little bit of info about the virtual console and hardware (do we already know about what the wi-fi and memory specs are?) would have been nice. Looks like a solid launch line-up, anyway, whenever it happens.

It's about time they fixed that.
