27 Playable Wii Games At E3
The Nintendo conference seemed to be the perfect opposite of Sony's conference yesterday. It was polished, the presenters were poised, and the demos conveyed exactly the message they were aiming for. Notable info includes 27 playable Wii titles on the E3 floor, a speaker in the Wii controller, a StarFox title for the DS, and a confirmation of motion sensor in the nunchuck attachment. There will be two versions of Twilight Princess (one for Wii, one for GC) and they'll both be out on Wii launch day. Launch is slated for Q4 of this year. The presenters kept the launch price and date under wraps as the tone of the event was inspiration, not information. The number of playable games available this week confirms their commitment to a launch date this year, and the hilarious tennis game played onstage by the Nintendo honchos and the contest winner made their 'playing = believing' slogan really hit home. More flash than substance, but a solid presentation overall
SWEET! Go nintendo! HI MOM! Nintendo seems to be getting a better reception than Sony and MS - their shennanigans are cheeky and fun. Sony's are meanspirited and misanthropic. Or so you tell me.
That rocked hard, but the absence of any SSB details, Virtual Console demo or DS-Wii connectivity was a major letdown. Compared to Sony's CG filled rip-fest. Wii couldn't have asked for more. Nintendo FTW!
Scott Dyer, you luck bastard.
I hate you so much
An important piece left out of the summary but mentioned in some of the articles is that the Wii will launch Q4 of 2006. It looks like shoppers this holiday season will be able to pick from all the next-gen consoles.

Well, I've already decided that out of the next-gen consoles I'll be preordering, the Wii is the one I won't be selling on eBay for megabux.
Interesting that Nintendo have finally conceeded to having two different versions of Twilight Princess, rather than a Gamecube game that would have added Wii functionality.
While watching the presentation live from Gamespot, I couldn't help but laugh at just how cool and fun that tennis game between the Nintendo execs and the contest winner was. It just looked so fun. I seriously cannot wait for this console!
I like the name "wii" and I'm getting one for my son the day it comes out. Nintendo understands why I got into games to begin with - social interaction with people in the room. Yeah, FPS is fun, but nothing beats clobbering your bros. at Cyberball or NHLPA Hockey (yes, Genesis days, TYVM) and telling them their "face" was just handed to them...

After nearly falling asleep while watching Sony's conference, Nintendo's was a breath of fresh air. The games they had on show looked great, and looked like they played great. They actually had something significant to show! It was awesome, plain and simple. I think Nintendo's really got the goods this generation. I just wish we could've seen a price.
:)
Also, I'm very happy that there's going to be a Fire Emblem game for Wii
I smell a feature film in the works... The Wiizard?
Low: I think the lack of final price and exact launch date was a bad idea. I know that people were bored during Sony's "stock analysts wet your pants with numbers" opening - but those two details were important. It may be that Nintendo's seeing that Sony's final numbers look like and if they really have a market so they're not competing directly - but who knows.
Highs: Lots of games. Zelda looked awesome, and "Red Steel" is up there on my must try. Even the "Wii Sports" game they showed off towards the end looks interesting - I can see my son and I playing with the baseball game, and my daughter will like the tennis stuff. And golf? Well, that's for my wife so I can get behind her and help her with her strokes.
Low: They kept showing a Mario game (Mario Galaxies or something), but I either missed the details or they didn't talk about it. Where's Mario 128? Where's the Kojima new IP?
High: Showing the new guy playing with the Wii controller. "Easy to use, difficult to master" seems about right. The sweepstakes winner seemed able to play around with it without too many problems - with a few more minutes he would have been better I'm sure.

Props to Nintendo for showing REAL GAMES.
The controller is functional and responsive - true next-generation gameplay.
Sony and M$ = owned.
Doesn't that infringe on Hyundai's trademark of "Driving is believing"? Or is that just legal low-class imitation? (No offense -- the Wii looks to be awesome, but copying is still lame.)
Kinda reminds me of (in Texas), Wendy's "It's better here" and HEB's "Here everything's better" (HEB is a grocery chain).
Apology to Ubuntu forum.
(Metroid Prime) Hunters can use that. ;-)
The presentation also showed that almost every sports game will make big use of the controller.... from Madden to tennis to running (which the Wii sees as the controller being shaken up and down as you make a jogging motion) to driving (as a simulated wheel that should have more resolution than a 1/4" stick can have) to obviously sword fighting.
Also, the Wii controller will have a rumble feature, but the PS3 controller won't? Is that right?
The delivery was pretty bad in places. It's really something that the games/controller are strong enough that the presentation was interesting in spite of the long pauses, missed lines and mistakes. (I wonder what it is like walking around looking so angry all the time? ;)
If the games are as fun as they looked this is going to be a pretty good few years for Nintendo.
Platform advocacy is like choosing a favorite severely developmentally disabled child.
The gameplay for the demos in the press conference looked pretty fun. I really can't wait to hear about the games playable on the floor tomorrow. They said there would be 27. I am going through the press conference notes at joystiq and I don't think they mentioned 27 games for the Wii. So I hope there are still some surprises, as far as games and gameplay in store for us tomorrow.
All in all, the press conference sounds like it couldn't have gone better for Nintendo. They have created a ton more hype, while still holding a few cards close to the vest for us to continue to speculate about as we get closer to the launch.
I swear PowerPoint is going to be the downfall of higher education in western society.
Great 'Live' blog-style Joystiq coverage here too (IMO better than the Game Daily one). They seemed exceptionally impressed with everything but the eye candy. And by that I mean it sounds like they and everyone else in the audience wanted to be onstage playing. Night and day difference from Sony's conference.

Early coverage seems to show that after Sony's belly flop yesterday, Nintendo hit a perfect 10 today.
... and there are significantly more non-gamers than gamers.
I can't wait to read the reviews tomorrow after everyone has got to play the games!
When Nintendo anounced the virtual console last year, I starting thinking about buying my first console since my SNES (which I still have and play occationally).
Everything they've done since then has shown me they are serious about closing that deal.
Bringing lapsed gamers like me back into the market is just half their plan though, if they can get my mother gaming, or my grandma (that Joy of Painting game might be something she'd really enjoy - if it gets released) then they're going to blow Sony and MS out of the water. I don't even think the so-called "industry experts" have thought about the impact the addtion of lapsed, PC-only, and new gamers will have on the market. Sony may well keep 40-60% of the current market base, but if that market grows, I think it will all go to Nintendo

1. 3rd party add-ons for the Wii controller. Lets get an idea of what developers are doing and show us that they're serious about supporting the Wii.
2. Give us a glimpse at how the older NES, SNES, Genesis, etc games will be played (the Wii controller flat-out lacks the proper number of buttons).
3. Wheres the multiplayer? Yes there was that tennis multiplayer match near the end but it seems like they didn't talk about it much overall.
4. Three words : Super Smash Bros. Where was it?
5. Less pre-made pre-arranged (gameplay?) videos, more on-stage demonstrations. (We don't want another 'was the Killzone video real time?' debate.)
it's so bad.
For those of you at work who want to know what happened without pulling up a (overloaded) video stream, here's a text summary of everything that happened.
I'm thinking the Wii is going to be the best console launch ever. I'm counting at least six "must own" games for me: Mario Galaxies, Twilight Princess, Red Steel, Metroid Prime 3, FF: Crystal Chronicles (assuming SquareEnix puts some decent effort into it, which I expect they will), and Dragon Quest. Plus I'm interested in some of the other things they didn't talk about during the conference, like Sadness. (Don't know if I'll buy it, but I'm interested.)
Conducting the orchestra in real time as the opening was sheer brilliance.
Definitely more compelling to me than the Dreamcast, which in my (highly-debatable, of course) opinion held the previous best launch lineup, at least in the US.
You listen, you notice, you innovate!
While the other two are busy trying to out do each other with hardware oneupmanship Nintendo is bringing us a console that is shock horror, fun to play and has games people want to play.
I don't own a console. I'm an electronics engineer, I spend all day on my ass in front of a computer thinking. When I come home I want to switch off, play a quick 30 mins of computer games that are fun. I DON'T want to play a game that takes hours to get into and that I must devote my life to.
I want a game like chess.... anyone can learn to play in a short while, but it takes ages to master.
Altogether now, Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!

The final secret of the Nintendo Wii's innovative controller is a time machine.
That's how their Virtual Console works, too!
You can mod your friends, you can mod your nose, but you can't mod your friend's nose.
Mainly in that there were no confirmed dates or prices, but I can wait for that.
Pilotwings, Excite Truck, Zelda, Disaster. They look pretty good. Red Steel was very nice, and I saw some 360 quality graphics.
---space.is.the.place---
Or perhaps they realized that with their main competitor Sony selling their product basically for $600, they could afford to charge more, and scrapped the original pricing they were set to announce.
How is it going to work? At Gamespot, I read that the controller will emit a "twang close to your ear" when you fire an arrow in Zelda, but that's kinda cheesy if it turns out to be just a mechanical-sounding noise in your hand. Is there some kind of 3D sound projection technology at work here?
...and disclaimer, work for Sony, am the devil incarnate etc.
From the sections of the thing that I saw (Zelda, and Red Thingy the FPS) it looks like the Weemote works fairly well. One of the big worries I had, that it wasn't gonna be precise enough for decent lightgun-style control, wasn't an issue. Some of the gesture-based stuff also looked cool, like Link's shield-block in the Zelda fight.
One of the things I thought might be a problem did crop up in Red Thingy - using the "mouse-look" style of aiming to also rotate the viewpoint. It seemed like the character was fairly slow to turn around, throughout the demo it was all fairly gently turns rather than how I know I play fps games (twitching round corners like a caffeine bomb just went off).
I think a great deal of the success of the new control-style will be how well it maps onto what gamers expect it to do. We've had pads and sticks for a long time, and we've mostly grown accustomed to the quirks of how we map them to solutions - when these fail, like FPS y-axis inversion and left-right camera rotation in 3rd person games (my own personal bugbear), it really kills the enjoyment of the game for some players. If the blend of interaction is right, these things will fly off the shelves.

Super Smash Brothers (Melee!) wasn't a release title on the GameCube, why do you think the next one will be a release title on the Wii?
Have you read the Moderation Guidelines Addendum?
I drive several cars...
The Mini Cooper is very very fun. Totally unrefined ride, doesn't present itself as well as a more elaborate or expensive sports car, but it's quick, nimble, and fun. Just fun.
The Mitsubishi Endeavor is a generic SUV. It's got leather and a loud stereo. You can do a lot with it, and it serves many purposes. Generic and useful.
The Dodge Viper is neurotic, takes it's design and engineering queues from many sources, but when the stars align and you find a situation to use it nothing is better.
In case you haven't caught on I'm making a very VERY poor attempt at generalizing that these 3 consoles are as far apart as you can get within the same arena of "nextGen Consoles". Mini = Wii. SUV = 360. PS3 = hypothetical viper.
Seems to me instead of arguing which is better (makes about as much sense as arguing if Starbucks makes a better cup of coffee than Burger King makes weird commercials) we should be revelling in the fact these billion dollar companies are competing fo fiercly to create a product we'll buy. Dance, monkeys! Also I will be buying PS3 and Wii. The 360 seems to fade out somewhere...
And no, I don't drive a viper, but I hear they're not slow.

Think about it, though: It's perfect from a marketing standpoint. Why have a stupid name like "PlayStation Third Regurgitation" or "Revolution?" With a name like "Wii," people go, "What the Hell? What the Hell is 'Wii?!'" It's almost like viral marketing in that it exploits the mind. People make a lot of noise when they're confused.

Reggie actually said you'd be playing Wii by the fourth quarter. That isn't the same as saying it will launch in the fourth quarter. I wonder if they have a summer surprise up their sleeve... Their biggest launch title is a reworked Gamecube game.

So it seems that the work Opera did in making the webbrowser for the DS hasn't gone to waste -- it's going to be the integrated browser in Wii too. But, has Nintendo made any mention of an internal HD yet? I haven't seen anything in their specs about data storage, except mention that the Wii-motes will hold the save games.

Xbox360 is pricy, the PS3 is a stretch and it'll have to be amazing to justify it. Wii is competitive.
Games playable now, ~30 games at launch?!? It's not like sony and MS can't do things to battle them but I'd have to give this one to Nintendo at this point. If they follow through and deliver they may not completely dominate the scene but I expect they'll be the one to beat. MS does have a big lead and it's hard to measure the "fan boy" factor, I'm inclined to think that blind fan-boys or "hard core gamers" will only account for a a couple million units, tops.
If they are doing their crap right, the missing features (like HD) will follow quickly and easily... I have to give them respect, going up against 2 huge mega corporations that are doing tons of PR and pouring billions of dollars in to R&D.

What's with the "More flash than substance" comment? At least Nintendo actually showed gameplay, in fact it was all about the gameplay. If by substance you mean "had a 1.2Ghz CPU, 10 squillion polygon fill rate" then you need to recalibrate you brain to what really matters: fun, and Nintendo's presentation showed that Wii has that in spades.
Seriously, after Sony's lackluster presentation and collection of FMVs yesterday, Nintendo's presentation was like a breath of fresh air, and was all substance where Sony's was all flash.
The tone of the slashdot article is rather biased in nintendo's favor. These articles are there to present information, not opinions (at least not to this extent)

I have been waiting for this conference for a very long time, and I am very satisfied from what I saw. This is because I expected only a few games and a reduced set of new ideas, but the (very short) demo of the WarioWare franchise showed that people at Nintendo have been thinking and creating innovative ways to interact with the games.
Even though I was not expecting "Metal Gear Solid 4 trailer" quality graphics, I can't deny I'm slightly dissapointed with the gameplay graphics, they seemed a little too cartoonish (specially the Wii Sports and WarioWare). Anyway, it is just a matter of time for developers to start using all the Wii's graphic capabilities (think Mario Sunshine vs. Resident Evil 4, both for Gamecube).
So maybe, Nintendo's efforts were focused on inspiring and showing what can be done with the new wii user interface (wui? wuii?) so third parties can create beautiful (now that I think again, the Final Fantasy video was amazing...) and fun games.
Zelda, Metroid, Mario, Final Fantasy, Tony Hawk, Madden... a very impressive line up if you ask me...
I'm definitely getting one of these as soon as I can. And I don't care about the childish name, at all. Hell... even if it were pink and called "Barbie's dreamy console" I would buy one.
*please excuse my English, it's been a long since I wrote something en inglés
Having just watched the conference and reading the /. comments, I really don't think that there's anything else I can add to the subject of the games (though Warioware still impresses me to no end), but after hearing about the built-in speaker in the "wii-mote" I'm left with one question: will there be any kind of headphone support?
I don't know about most of you guys, but I grew up listening to "that's too loud, turn it down!" from my mother while I was playing video games, and after moving out I have to put up with basically the same thing from the neighbors at my apartment. It's pretty much gotten to the point where I'm accustomed to playing video games, watching TV/movies, and listening to music while wearing headphones.
So where does the idea of a remote speaker leave people like me? I would like to get the full experience of the game, but I may not be able to hear the remote's speaker over my headphones. And if I could, would it be loud enough to disturb my roommate/neighbors? Could there be in-game options to route all sound through the TV speakers or the headphones, like there is with XB Live?

:)
In this post-joke age of the Wii name, I gotta admit, it sure can be fun to say.
(Unfortunately, slashdot lameness filter dislikes more than 10 consecutive is.)
I liked the part where Shigeru Miyamoto got so excited he forgot how to speak English.
If can summarize:
waa! Nintendo kept talking about games and showing how fun they are. I want to know how many FPS!
Waa! Waa! I hate the name!
I *think* that pretty much is a more concise summary than the original article.
Together with the speaker on the wii-remote and the always-on nature of the wii it isn't really that far from a cordless IP phone. I doubt Nintendo would try to become a telecom, but "Nintendo Wiiphone provided by AT&T" might be a possibility. (How about a free wii with a 1 year service contract?)
It also seemed like it would come with Opera as default (The "It starts our Opera browser in seconds" comment during the presentation), so it might work as a simple web browser too. Add a google search box like Firefox has, and I can see that Nintendo could make a profit on providing free access to Nintendo Go - they wouldn't be dependent on a subscription model.
Overal I'm very impressed by the business sense of Nintendo, while Sony and Microsoft seems to compete on who can make the biggest loss Nintendo might steal the show.
"There's really nothing that appeals to a non-Nintendo fan like me contrary to what they are preaching. Playing is believing? No thanks."
So... yer not even going to try it?
"Besides I heard there's some secret in Wii but it turned out it's a speaker in the wiimote, which I don't think will be better utilized by game developers."
Huh? Why not? We've got developers going out of their way to do surround sound on games, but an extra audio stream into the controller would be neglected? Audio's easy. If Nintendo had shown some R2D2'esque holographic projector, well then yeah, I'd believe you.
"As for games, there were nothing that appealed to me in the lineup of 27 Wii games shown today. I don't play games to appreciate the "revolutionary" gameplay of wii, I just would like to play interactive contents."
So why hasn't Red Steel impressed you?
"If you've watched the Sony conference it has Warhawk demo, which looks 100x beautiful and fun."
Okay. A higher-detailed game sequel appealed to you. Nothing wrong with that, but I do wonder if you're unimpressed because you won't let yourself be impressed. Mind you, I cannot cast any stones here. Sony hasn't impressed me, but I haven't stepped forward to try to be impressed. Hehe.

At first I was skeptical, chiefly due to concerns about the audio quality. But after thinking about it, I believe that if designers use it judiciously, it will help break down the "fourth wall" between the player and the game world. It will not be used for music or ambient noise - rather, it should be used for occasional "accent" sounds, like swords clanging against each other.
Nintendo's rationale was that, if the action is all around you (and you are NOT part of the action), then surround sound can convey this. But if you ARE truly part of the action, some sound should come from you as well.

I'll just use my special getting high powers one more time...
As I was watching the PS3 conf last night, and figuring out that I was unlikely to be shelling out for it and an HDTV at the same time, the familly (past N64 owners) kept shouting back "wait until the games before you decide what to buy"... I wasn't allowed to say "but this thing is $600 minimum... there's no way"... I heard a "need FFXII" comment, but I plan on undermining PS3 requests at home for the next 2 years.
I think the 3 in 1 sports game at launch is gonna be a great title for wii. Spastic sports fun that could make mediocre sports titles fun, and a must buy, if they are packaged together, and their individual simulation value is overlooked.
The family will definitely drool over zelda. And I expect a good mario-party like title with fun mini-games.
So even if the controller response is going to underwhelm the hype, I'm pretty sure the wii will be fun enough to buy, and the family will enjoy it.
Speaking as an admitted fanboy, I gotta say I'm a little apprehensive, but excited too. It looks like some of these games could end up being quite a workout, and I can see myself breaking lamps and knocking stuff off the coffee table on a regular basis. The graphics look like a modified gamecube, but that's the point, right? It seems like Nintendo recognizes the approaching end of the super-hyper-realistic-all-new-better graphics highway, and they just veered onto the exit ramp to get-off-the-couch-and-do-something. My wife will love it, as there's some actual physical activity involved and a lower degree of difficulty. As for the actual details, I wanted to know the obvious date and price, but a little bit of info about the virtual console and hardware (do we already know about what the wi-fi and memory specs are?) would have been nice. Looks like a solid launch line-up, anyway, whenever it happens.
Fucking In!
I am betting that right around the time the PS3 launches, MS knocks $50-100 off the price of the 360. Nintendo probably wants to launch under MS's price as well. Doesn't have to be much, just enough to give them the image of the "cheap console" so even those that buy one of the other two feel like they can own a Revolution.
Good sir or madam, Wario is a video game character from the Mario franchise. What a realistic-looking Wario would look like, I don't want to consider.
The sports one does underscore that, when they could choose a few different styles, Nintendo is still going to entertain cartoony, kid-style graphics, that's very true. If I had to choose I'd prefer that they go that way, rather than trying to be "Xtreme" like the Xbox.

Because by then hopefully the price of a PS3 and the new HDTV I'll have to buy to use it might be affordable to me...and I think Assassin's Creed, Heavenly Sword, and Lair look totally F-ing awesome.
Easy there Governor, I was being sarcastic.
...hence the :p
Collector's Edition
...won't have:
-Wi-fi support
-HDMI port
-No Flash support
-Scrawny 20 GB HD instead of the 60 GB one
And for this you 'save' $100? That's insane! At least with the 360's Core system you could work your way up to the Premium over time. These 'features' are sorta permanent. So I'm going hook up my brand new Composite Edition PS3 to my old RCA TV / VCR combo unit. Terrific...
"...Well, there's egg and bacon; egg sausage and bacon; egg and spam; egg bacon and spam; egg bacon sausage and spam..."
I'm thinking the DS might be a better choice for phone service. Step into any restaurant with a Wayport hotspot and make free voice calls to any friend code on NWC, and make cheap outgoing calls to any POTS number nationwide.
Wave Race fucking owned.
That game was so much fun to play... and all my friends try to race me and they're all like WTF HAX because all they do is sit around and play GTA all day. lmao
THIS THING CAN TURN ON A DIME, MACROSSZERO STYLE ALSO FUCK BETA, ~NYORON
It's all about the Yen/Dollar exchange rate. It makes better business sense to hold off on that. Everyone knows who's cheapest of the bunch.
All your base are belong to Wii
Stop! Dremel time!
If that was the case, Linux should be dominating. Gnome? Gimp? Ekiga? Wii? If you didn't know better, you'd think it was a new video editor or something.
Live today, because you never know what tomorrow brings
2. Give us a glimpse at how the older NES, SNES, Genesis, etc games will be played (the Wii controller flat-out lacks the proper number of buttons).

I think Nintendo of Japan's website answers this question(go to the very bottom of page):
http://www.nintendo.co.jp/n10/e3_2006/wii/control
You listen, you notice, you innovate!
Actually, I would say that they aren't listening, which is why they are innovating. If they were listening to what people say (No HDTV? This is gonna suck!) or (Wii? WTF kind of name is that?) or (That new controller is lame, I want another dual-analogue!) or (It's only 2x as powerful as Gamecube? The graphics will suck!) they wouldn't be innovating. In fact, they'd end up with another POS console like Microsoft and Sony have.
From http://www.gamespot.com/news/6149746.html
A list of 3rd party games, which are in addition to the 9(?) first party titles (presumably the playable 27 tomorrow should be in this list somewhere). Unfortunately I was unable to copy it directly here because of lameness filter, but there are about 70-80 games listed.

It might not have been revealed during the press conference, but I imagine we'll hear more about it tomorrow when people can play with it (I assume there will be games that to utilize it from the Virtual Console).
... if people can't get past the name. "Wii" is going to alienate droves of potential gamers who find the name an insult. Wake up, Nintendo: you're shooting yourself in the foot.
...Will it run Linux?
I wonder if Nintendo is aware that in certain states here in the United States, namely New York and California although there may be others, the mere possession of nunchaku is illegal. These types of laws are of course utterly ridiculous, who would bother to use a nunchaku in a crime when they could use any number of other potential weapons up to and including a handgun, but they are on the books anyway. Probably due to some wrongheaded political gambit in an election year...they are bringing nunchaku to school so they we must totally ban the possession of two sticks joined with a string...wont somebody think of the children? You know the rest.
Fighting Arts - Nunchaku Illegal in New York
Well, people also like pretty things. Wii is a pretty machine with pretty little games. Linux is kind of ugly.
Slashdot - where whining about luck is the new way to make the world you want.
By taking two Wii controllers and having one forcefully enter the mouth and the other enter the anus this will accurately simulate the purchasing of a PS3.
I tried to be impressed by the ps3, great graphics, yeah, but price and lack of seriously good games? no.
the wii has whet my appetite plenty though.
Yeah, well, uh, just keep your dangly remote dongle motion-sensor thing off her, pal.
Although the moon is smaller than the earth, it is farther away.
I think the bigger question is, will the PS3 run Linux? I'm pretty sure the Wii won't, but I remember something about the PS3 and Linux a while back.
I'm pretty sure the "Nunchuck" is actually just the motion-sensitive controller.
If other reasons we do lack, we swear no one will die when we attack
The "stick" (left hand) part of the "full" motion-sensitive setup, shown here: http://www.nintendo.co.jp/n10/e3_2006/wii/controll er.html

Actually, it had to do with the fact that it looks much more appropriate for a person to be playing Metroid Prime/Other Shooting Game in the dark than to be playing it in a bright happy setting.
Ooo man the floppy drive is broken. No wait. The computer is just upside down.
You're on /., it's like the breeding ground for little fucks.
I've never wished for winter to come round more quickly before. Mario Galaxies, Zelda, Wii Sports and Metroid Prime 3 have me convinced this is probably the first console I will buy on launch day. Hopefully we'll see Pikmin 3 and Smash Brothers in mid 2007.
Although, knowing Nintendo Europe, I'll probably have to wait until 2007 for a PAL Wii.
Is there any video of the show out there?

Platform advocacy is like choosing a favorite severely developmentally disabled child.
Apparently I'm not authorized to view or download that content. What?
Virtual Console: Wii will have downloadable access to 20 years of fan-favorite titles originally released for Nintendo 64, the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) and even the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). The Virtual Console also will feature a "best of" selection from Sega Genesis titles and games from the TurboGrafx console (a system jointly developed by NEC and Hudson). It also will be home to new games conceived by indie developers whose creativity is larger than their budgets.
That is your best RTS for the DS yet.
So yeah, Nintendo hasn't done a lot with RPG since the SNES.
While Wii seems like it will support most of the old RPG titles
(via a fee-based download service), what about future titles?
Yes yes... FF : Crystal Chronicles or Crystal Bearers or what not.
But Chronicles really wasn't turn-based RPG. Is RPG relegated
to the other consoles these days? Or am I being incredibly naive?
Maybe it's nothing, but the fact that Reggie said, "will be playing the Wii Q4 2006" makes me think that the release date might be earlier than Q4. Again, it's just something I noticed. Anyone else read it the way I did?
Something no one has mentionned yet... what happens when you really get into that tennis game and start really puting some motion into your strokes, and then the controller slides from your hand and smashes into the wall?
Are they going to be solid? *Really* solid? Or padded?
I thought PS3 stood for Plagiarist Station Thwii.
How many fulltime jobs can one man have?
Or it would have been, if we all had 90' TV screens and a huge stage to move around in, or if after they were done demonstrating the Tennis game and had already turned around and stopped moving, MARIO HADNT KEPT PLAYING.
/add/ that, and we don't need to throw out the controller itself to add a feature."
Yes, I realize he was no longer hitting the ball; but, he still tracked the ball and moved over to it, which basically means all that moving around by the person playing was Bullshit to look flashy, and the controller itself is nothing but a fancy pushbutton.
Does that mean it's completely without merit? I don't think so. But not quite so much merit as they'd have you believe. That is: It's got bullshit just like every other game demo at E3 has bullshit.
I still can't help but think of all those cheap crappy motion-capture video games they sell in the mall, which are just oh-so-successful and oh-so-not-the-worst-gaming-experience-ever.
Maybe I could, but I dont want to.
Meanwhile, Sony says "Motion and Tilt sensitivity? Yeah, we can
The real problem with that of course is that people have always been tilting their controllers when they're "into it".. I'm pretty sure that making that really mean something might be a problem when you dont really mean it, and might leave everyone struggling to stay perfectly still in an un-fun way. With no rumble pack.

Duck Hunt 2 article here; should be playable at E3, sometime real soon!
