Lets not insult the people doing this, on either side. People -in general- have a nasty habit of following the group and the group leader (ie. the Iraq war). At the same time, I dont condone thier actions -- I do not know why they do the things they do. I wish they did not commit these acts. I do not know how they feel about their upbringing or experiences or their particular desparations. My position is, to quote Tolstoy, "Those who judge and condemn people to violent treatment, wounds, maiming, death, wish to teach people. But what else can come from thier teaching, than that the pupil will learn his lesson and will become quite like the teacher?"

So you're saying that no one has provided proof that God exists?

I seem to remember a couple books on the subject...

But seriously, can you base scientific truths on assumptions? We have to remember that we understand so little of the nature of the universe, much less reality itself, that assuming that God/supernatural forces do not exist is inherently flawed. Just because you can't see direct evidence of it, ie. black holes or dark matter, doesn't mean they don't exist. Besides, if God proved Him/Her/Itself to you, by, for example, talking to you, would you belive it? I seem to recall a few people in history who have had similar experiences. Anyway, my point is, can you truly remain objective and make assumptions based on lack of evidence? How often has that approach turned out to be wrong?

  5. Is that a lawsuit I smell? on Why Can't Microsoft Just Patch Everything? · · Score: 1

Amen. If Microsoft had less than say 50% of the consumer market, they might consider patching good business sense.

Why should they patch their software? They have too much money/marketshare to bother.

Compare this to Sony BMG's DRM 'fiasco' -- How long did it take for them to pull thier heads out their arses? We (meaning me and the rest of those who have the DRM software still installed on our computers) are still waiting for a proper uninstaller, even with 3 Lawsuits and counting.

Yet, no one is suing Microsoft (to my knowledge) for not patching their security holes immediately. Should we consider this ample opportunity?

At this stage, the only two competitive advantages that Microsoft has is that they have us by the brasseys. Too much software runs on Windows. Too many people know how to operate the OS.

Is that a lawsuit I smell? Nope. It's just another chunk of the consumer over the firepit.
