$100 for 300GB isn't too bad (about what I'd expect to pay for in a HDD, though). My main concern is the cost of the reader/writer. When DVD burners first came on the scene they'd set you back a few hundred...whenever I'd have enough to get one I just bought a couple 120GB Drives instead.
Odds are Hard Drives will remain the cheapest Dollar-per-GB option, and thats what sells me.
