It's a great proof of concept. I got to play with it with the hand controls and 3d glasses. Visually impressive.
Works well for examining something, but doesn't feel terribly useful for design because it's not very precise.
Technologically, it's still early -- buggy Windows app that crashed on me after 5 minutes of exploration.
tl;dr Great first steps.
Pivotal Tracker and similar tools do an excellent job of addressing this kind of cognitive dissonance.
"I need you to do this ASAP. Priority ZERO!!1!!"
"Adding scope? No problem! We'll estimate the new task. There's the queue of user stories. Prioritize however you'd like."
"Two older stories just got pushed out of this iteration."
"Yes... Yes, they did. Any questions?"
Projects should not be organized into buckets. They should be organized into One True List.
Absolute priority values (High, Higher, Highest, Ludicrous Speed...) are meaningless. The only workable solution is relative priorities. One PM should have the authority to prioritize one list of projects.
Dev just does whatever is at the top of the list.
This is the only process that I have ever seen work effectively and painlessly.
The story is atrocious, which is typical of "science" reporting. However, I think it's possible that we are misinterpreting what we are seeing (and that the caption is inaccurate).
Perhaps the black stuff (the bulk of the panel) is the hair-based material, and those little wires are something else.
On the other hand, I think it's suspicious that this kid calls out his neighbors as ignorant bumpkins. Plays a little too well to the subconscious assumptions of a Western audience.
You might be very sure, but you're still mistaken.
Yes, film decays, but it loses information very slowly and rarely *fails*, which is what every digital storage device will do within years or, at most, decades.
Given that it is impossible to prevent people from owning guns, wouldn't it make more sense to educate and regulate than to try to ban, which doesn't work? Have you checked the homicide and incarceration rates in countries that ban handguns?
Always a cynic, huh?
Looked at a little differently... Why pay rent in urban America when you can spend your evenings on the beach in a tropical paradise on the cheap?
Though I've always despised Microsoft for lots of good reasons, and have no admiration for Bill Gates the business 'leader', the Gates Foundation is probably doing more (financially speaking) to effect positive change in the world than the rest of us put together.
Here's hoping we can put aside our loathing long enough to recognize that the Gates Foundation is and will be saving and improving thousands if not millions of lives over the coming decades.
Last week, my local GameStop had a couple of PS3s that had been sitting for several days.
As of yesterday, my local target has about 20 in stock and are only selling them at a rate of about 2 per day.
I'd be curious how many Wii units have shipped, because I would wager that the number shipped is almost exactly equal to the number sold. They are nowhere to be found here in southern Oregon. Looks like I won't be getting my Wii for another few weeks.
Sony misjudged demand. Nintendo can't catch up to it.
Final Cut Studio has a total lock on the video editing software market south of $10k.
Premiere disappeared from the Mac because it couldn't compete. Speaking as an independent filmmaker, I can't even imagine what Adobe could do to woo me back over.
I actually feel that three out of the five celebrity comments are perfectly "reasonable".
MELINDA MESSENGER and JOANNA LUMLEY don't want all kinds of crazy shit in their food. Neither do I. Things that were formally thought 'safe' are later proven harmful all the time. And there are things that we *know* aren't safe that are still in our food (growth hormones, trans fats, etc.). Are "scientists" arguing that organic food is just second-rate overpriced food for the paranoid?
CHRIS DE BURGH helped relieve his friend's pain. Subjective and therefore irrefutable. Doctors are in a huff because they didn't get the sell the patient anything to get the same results.
CAROLE CAPLIN. Don't have the slightest idea what she's talking about.
HEATHER MILLS MCCARTNEY. Can't confirm or refute her conjecture.
You're definitely on the right track here.
Fantasy taps into the collective human psyche. Most of the fantasy "stereotypes" are actually mythical archetypes that are burned in to our subconscious lives.
The whole premise of "Vogler's model" in filmmaking is that the closer a script matches the "hero's journey" as mapped by Joseph Campbell, the more responsive people will be.
Star Wars is set in a high-tech world, but is more fundamentally a mythic journey with all the standard archetypes.
I see no reason sci fi MMOs can't do well with the same formula.

I say reverse that. Let's just replace "the internet" with "the cloud" and everyone is happy.
In other news, a high rise building holds more people than a one story house!

Wait. Six years later, the Taliban is in a position to make demands?

Word up, dog.
Vision is everything.
Wah!
