  1. Re:"Simpsons already did it" on Video Game Labeling Law Passed In New York · · Score: 1

yes, this is true. the ESRB has had content labels on their products since 1994. The problem is, retails and retarded parents don't read the labels.

I'm a parent and a gamer. My kid isn't playing violent games any time soon. I read the labels.

So what does this NY law solve then? Nothing.

  2. we have labels now on Video Game Labeling Law Passed In New York · · Score: 1

Ok, for one, games are already labeled. If parents read the damn things, this wouldnt be an issue. Second, the consoles do not need "parental controls". The best parental control is not buying the game (or the system) in the first place. And what will these parental controls do for the games? Do the developers have to make a "clean" version of the game as well? And the next obvious comment..what about PC games? This is just crazy.

The thing that kills me with all this, is that since I was in kindergarten (about 35 years ago), I was taught to think for myself, not to follow. And today, it seems kids are taught to be sheep. And everyone seems to be following along like good little lemmings with this global warming thing. Then when some scientist (who is just as qualified as the rest) trys to question the status quo, he is marginalized and run out of town. Loses his job, his credentials. Its sick.

This planet has always taken care of itself. And us trying to screw with it will surely mess things up, and ultimately end in our demise.

Most humans are far more likely to enter a physical conflict that they believe they are sure to win. As soon as someone sees a gun, they are no longer sure they are going to win, and thus are far less likely to continue the aggression. Absolutely. Why do you think these people commit these gun crimes at "gun free zones" like shopping malls and schools? Because they know there wont be anyone there able to protect themselves. Criminals know they have a better chance where guns have been made illegal. Some small Oregon towns have even made gun ownership a requirement to live there for just this reason.
