I had an employer several years ago that required us to sign an agreement that said we couldnt work for any competitor for 5 years after leaving the company. But this was mainly because the main competitor was across town, and was created by disgruntled ex-employees.
well, "free" unless you cross the Russian mob, or Putin's government. (They are interchangeable.)
Ask a few Russian reporters about their "freedom of speech" to speak about the government. Wait, you cant. They're dead.
IIRC, I believe the problem is with Broadcom, not the development community.
They cant create drivers if the chipset manuf. wont release the info they need to do it.
Well, I wasnt looking at HD. I was looking at the 80-hour Series 2 Dual Tuner box.
From the Tivo website:
The TiVo Series2 Dual Tuner (DT) DVR works with any cable (basic or digital cable) or satellite set-up. Note that the Series2 DT not support recording from two digital cable or two satellite channels at once. Recording from over- the-air antenna not supported.
No, I didnt know that. But you would think the people there would explain it that way. All they said is that I could only have the DVR if I subscribed to digital cable. I asked why, and all I got was babble about "packages."
I had a DVR from my cable company (Comcast), but when I turned back to "basic" cable from "digital" cable, they made me give the DVR back. So if you want a DVR with basic cable, you have to buy a Tivo or build your own.
As for recording off an antenna....I have been looking into a Tivo, and their website says that "over the air" recording is not supported with the newer boxes.
mandatory life sentances for the wife who didn't know her husband was a drug dealer but once answered the phone to one of his contacts (while he turned evidence and got off with a few years), etc etc.-
Sorry, this one sounds like BS. You dont get a life sentence for answering the phone. Cite?
Wow, you are the first person to ever respond to that question, in person, or online. I will definitely look those particular items up.
Oh, and for the "search and seizure"...did you know that law already existed? It was for drug traffickers. The Patriot Act just added the word "terrorism" to the law.
Thanks for the info!
I just built a new box. And I bought an OEM copy of XP Home that came with a Vista "Upgrade" coupon. I shredded it. They wanted $79 plus shipping for Vista Premium.
I dont watch a TV show or a movie to get a dose of reality. I can leave the TV off and get that right in my living room, or at work. I watch movies & such to be entertained. A break from reality is the whole point. It drives me nuts when people cut apart a movie (usually while watching it) because something "wouldnt happen that away."
The reason? Corporate greed. ISPs are in it to make tons of cash, and they dont want to spend anything to provide more access to rural areas (even though the feds gave them billions of $$ to do just that some years ago.)
Why not just give the pr0n industry its own tld and be done with it? Yes, the bluenoses will scream bloody murder, but they're doing that about pr0n already, so what's the difference?
The pr0n industry isnt the one that wants the new TLD (its too easy to filter out.) They LIKE it when people accidentally go to their sites. (It does happen.) And so do the spammers they pay for "click thrus". Its a money-maker. Creating a.xxx TLD will stop that "accidental" click-thru revenue flow.
The "bluenoses" as you call them WANT the TLD because its easier to filter.
I see your point, but that is a bad example for me. I recommend that they DONT use Wikipedia.
Its like an op-ed page...
As for libraries, the only thing that should be blocked there is pr0n. We quit using our local library because we got tired of walking by all the perverts looking at pr0n in front of everyone.
FWIW, I dont have a problem with pr0n, I just dont like little kids being subjected to it. Especially the really raunchy stuff.
I seriously doubt banning MySpace in schools would hamper learning. WTF are the looking at that on school time for anyway? At the HS my kids go to, MySpace is already banned...and blocked. On top of that, using proxies to get around their firewall is a suspension offense.
Im so sick of the entitlement "blah blah blah" BS in this country. If you dont like the rules for employment, you are completely free to find another job.
Follow the rules, or dont and suffer the consequences. Thats how it works.
Next.
Yeah, $8 for Genesis games is nuts. I can get a Sega-style controller that plugs into my TV with a dozen or so Genesis games on it for $15 at Target...

Unfortunately, the Russian reporters being killed isn't a hoax...

no-knock warrents- no problem here either.

Just a question....can tell me ONE freedom we have lost? Just one. Should be easy.

More proof the Wiki is just a giant electronic op-ed page, and about as reliable as your local neighborhood gossip.
Um, how does this make him the "Father of the Internet"?
No kidding...we all know Al Gore invented teh internets.
Or maybe he's just one of those people who doesnt like to use profanity in a public forum.
So it needs to be reworded. Fine. But blocking certain sites from schools is not a bad thing.

And if they can fix security problems with One Care, why couldnt they fix them in the OS in the first place?
So first, we pay MS for the OS... then we have to pay them again to make it secure? Sounds like a scene from The Godfather.
It seems silly, and not exactly smart, but I didnt know it was against the law.
Well, its good to know that Schumer's just as popular at home as he is here in the Pacific Northwest.
