I'm sorry, the internet is not a big truck that can be put into reverse. It's a series of tubes. And if you don't understand, those tubes flow in one direction, when you put your message in, it gets in line and it's never going to get there if anyone reverses the flow.
(Sorry, not really trolling - in fact I agree with what you said, just struck me funny:) )
All those IVR recordings get of me is the word "Representative." Yes, of course, I am just one person, but you think there aren't many more like me? I'd rather have the data of people using a system on purpose than forced to do so.
From your mouth to that guy's ears. The AC says it can't happen because of licensing - this is why I can't have market + google apps on my kindle fire.
Except that I do. Doesn't have to be officially offered, make it technically possible & we'll do it.
Actually, you typically just have to wait 2-5 years [too lazy for citation, but I do know someone who's family collected on a declared suicide] from policy start before committing suicide.
You know, it's interesting. Regarding #4, this is the same attitude we (mostly) all accept with regards to **AA (and for that matter, horse and buggy shops). The times change, business models need to change too.
You lost me at Public Radio, though. Unless you are referring to something other than NPR, you are hearing a lot of advertising these days ("This broadcast brought to you by McDonalds, home of the McRib, who reminds you to 'have it your way' online at www.mcdonalds.com or at your local McDonalds location. McDonalds, 'whatever their other slogan is'."
I still listen to NPR because this is still way less intrusive, but there is *NO WAY* I will donate money to them.
I'm sure the AC endorsement will make all the difference!
Kidding aside, I agree completely. Finally a candidate the "nerds" can & should care about & he is the only one not discussed. I'm not new here, so not surprised. Still disappointed.
What sad, sad place do you live in to not know the yummy-ness that is cantaloupe? Besides, If they wrote melon how would I know if they meant melon, melon, melon or melon?
The Signal to Noise ratio is quite high, but I do occasionally read rather insightful posts from an AC. Some topics are more controversial than others & some regular posters prefer anonymity from time to time. There is nothing stopping you from filtering out AC if you prefer.
I was as ignorant as the GP - never bothered to look & its not like the US media went out of it's way to make sure we were aware. Thank you for the link.
Wasn't the Kindle reader, but I wouldn't be surprised if it works the same way. My understanding is that the iPad is (often, can't be always) using the same resolution apps as the iPhone, so it basically letterboxes the screen. Really a pity.
It broke my heart Sunday to see the guy next to me using the same (different platform, same app) scripture reader for his 9.7" iPad that I use on my Kindle Fire when I noticed we were using he same amount of screen for the app itself. His "vastly superior" tablet that he cannot put in a jacket pocket had black space on the sides & bottom & the top was the iOS stuff then black space before the app. We both had about 7" usable space for the app.
Yeah, I was using the previously declared and not argued 2TB for $130 (GGGG-GP, sjames) figure and I did not figure redundancy as I was comparing (more or less) apples to apples. Your point is still valid, but it does not invalidate mine;)
Do people use 3TB drives for backup? I wasn't aware they were considered reliable enough for that yet, but I am not always completely current... I usually stay one step behind the largest for my backups but there is some paranoia playing into that...
It is more functional for the typical smartphone user, as it is much easier (and more intuitive) to do. Sure, anyone that can learn can learn to do it the way Android does it, but the way WebOS multitasks is the way iOS would if it could multitask (well). It just works.
Considering how much more advanced multitasking is in WebOS than Android, I REALLY hope Google buys it, this is what they need to make Android feel more polished than iOS
Seriously, every time there is a major advance in tech there are people that think it's cute/funny/whatever to ridicule it, how this new tech at its early stage doesn't do everything the existing tech did from go. Imagine if we hadn't bothered with those crappy gas burning cars? You really wish you had a horse today? Fifty to a hundred years from now we're going to regard people who were shortsighted regarding the capability of electric the same way we now (and have for some time) regard people that used to shout "Get a horse!"
Fracking is perfectly safe, right? Why don't we use that method?
(set irony detector to maximum before modding, please)
"recheck the internet right above your post"?
:) )

The fact that my transcripted voicemails are rarely accurate enough to not listen to the call tells me they have some work to do.

Sorry to reply to self - that was a 160x160 screen. Oh, and 8MB RAM. Yeah, not gonna happen.
You want to run a modern OS on a 16mhz processor with a 320x320 screen? Good luck with that.
That said, I did love my IIIc back in the day.
Meh, he started with "Good news, everyone" - my internal reading voice switched over immediately.
+11

Hyneman still won't reply to your fanmail, huh?
Oh, Hey, I didn't see you guys all the way over there

That's still 46TB worth of hard drives for the cost of the enclosure that lets you read the tape before buying tape
