Not the death of journalism, just the end of old-style journalism. Nearly every industry in the world has been forced to change with time, but journalism was pretty much TV, radio, and print for 50 years. Now the web is out there. Deal with it.
So my brother zero formatted the hard drives and then took out the RAM, until they grow up and show enough responsibility to have working systems again.
Can I do that to dumb users where I work? This 90/10 thing is driving me bonkers.
Once we end all of this open standards silliness, and get you to do your internet business with safe, secure ActiveX and.Net, security woes will be a thing of the past!
Was the point of this particular Slashdotting about the content of the article, or the outrage at the way in which it was presented?

Most users have servers in their homes and offices where they keep large stores of digital "objects," including their software, databases, documents, music
Ironically enough, I have a 1999 Dell GX-1 running Linux acting as my storage server in my home:-D
The DRM overhead in Vista finally made me take the Ubuntu plunge. Happily using Linux for nearly a year now, and getting great pleasure out of reading about the various Vista issues!
Here are the September statistics from my Baby Boomer memories site, I Remember JFK, which has a demographic of 45-year-old and older visitors:
MS Internet Explorer 63.3 %
Firefox 26.5 %
I think the fact that an older audience like that is over 1/4 Firefox users says boatloads about the inroads they've made on IE.
I run several sites, and have always had a no-banner policy. However, I was surprised and disappointed that Firefox right out of the box on Ubuntu comes with an ad blocker that blocks my Google ads. Sure, everybody hates banners, Flash garbage, and lurid flashing colors. But as a website owner with lots of overhead, I think blocking Google's text ads out of the box is going a bit far.
You're all fools! The DAT cassette deck does a killer job of digital recording! I bought one when they first came out in the early 90's!
Oh wait, no I didn't. They weren't sold in the US.
I'm puzzled, doesn't Mozilla owe its existence to Google's cash?
There are some gems out there that get watched repeatedly. Blazing Saddles, Sneakers, Four Weddings and a Funeral. AWP! JK about that last one!!! ;-)
Five bucks is what I pay for a flick. No more. When it hits the five dollar bin at Wal-Mart, that's when I may or may not buy it.

Generalissimo Fransisco Franco is still dead...WAIT A MINUTE!! HE'S BEGUN STIRRING!!!

Actually, Microsoft recently patented both the hook and the loop. ;-)
Everybody know aluminum doesn't burn. Neither does water. Sheesh. ;-)
Do I side with the Fascist cops or the Nazi record exec?

I'm a professional geek, experienced in Linux. Joomla! baffled me until I finally gave up. Read the account at my blog: http://www.baldguyweb.com/blog/2009/02/joomlaed_out.php
The pope, Jesse Jackson, and the king of Thailand walk into a bar...

Hmmm...Obviously the teachings of KARL MARX figure prominently in your school's curricula... ;-)
I KNEW there was something inherently evil about Ubuntu! Now, to uninstall it and put Vista back on so I can learn something...
I am now more convinced than ever that it is impossible to secure Windows.
Dvorak? He's still around? People still READ his stuff?

Let's see how quick a fix is posted. Ooooh, I hope we don't have to wait until Tuesday, January 13...
Better check and see if that shiny new horse MS gave you is full of Trojan soldiers...

I'm an alpha tester for Vista's new ad popup feature. The only ads I've been seeing are for penile enlargement. HOW DO THEY KNOW???
