  1. I'm sorry you feel this way about libertarianism, and, to an extent, there is truth in some of these accusations. We are not all alike, though. The core of libertarianism is limited government. We stand against things like the war on drugs, which is one of the most racist and wasteful policies in America. We believe in equal justice for everyone. We are generally not in favor of trying to police the world, starting unnecessary conflicts. We believe everyone who wants to work should be able to work, and that wage levels should not be set so high that the uneducated are unable to find employment. TLDR; at least some libertarian ideals are good.

Faith and religion are frequently used in a synonymous fashion. "People of various faiths" means the same as "people of various religions."

I would love to see, er, hear, this happen. 24 bit depth would allow for more dynamic range, and the lower amount of distortion would also be great. I know most people don't have the equipment or ear training to hear the difference, but why not encode music at a higher quality level?

One of the major things that annoy me about networking services like Facebook and Twitter is the amount of useless information that is generated. Just generating information is not good enough, it needs to be useful, beneficial.

Projects like this definitely create jobs as you state. However, we should keep in mind that they also divert resources from other sectors of the economy, and prevent other jobs from being created. C'mon, who really wants better military technology over Duke Nuke'em?

What is a monopoly? The definition has changed over the last hundred years or so. A monopoly used to be an entity (like the USPS) that is granted an exclusive right by the government to a resource or service (like the USPS has over mailboxes). These monopolies have no competition. Without competition, these monopolies have little encouragement to improve their services.

(The USPS is the only entity that can deliver mail to a mailbox, unless it grants another entity that right. The USPS does have indirect competition because of email and other online services, but they don't seem to recognize that, and therefore they keep raising their prices. If companies like UPS and FedEx were allowed to deliver mail to our mailboxes, postage would probably cost a lot less today.)

I have no problem with the kind of "monopolies" described in the above posts. If the only feasible way to provide a service or resource is through companies that are gigantic and have little competition, and I want that service, then the only way I'm going to get that service or resource is through that company. If there is a demand for a service or resource, eventually someone will provide it. If competition is feasible, competition will come.

What I have a problem with is when I'm told that I can't hire UPS to deliver my mail to my mailbox.

People who call themselves Christians and beat people up must have a very convoluted perception of Christ's teachings. Even when He was being beaten up himself, He didn't raise a finger, but merely asked His Father to forgive those who were beating Him. Throughout history atrocities have been committed in Christ's name that He would never have sanctioned. He said, "LOVE your enemies, BLESS them that curse you, DO GOOD to them that hate you, and PRAY for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you."
