  1. Re:well, on PS3 Japanese Price Drop 'Ridiculous' · · Score: 1

I originaly wanted to get a PS3, but every day I don't have one is another day I'm happier with my Xbox 360 and more content with the idea of missing out on Sony's next greatest console. I really hope Sony can pull their crap together, because from what I've been reading here, I'm not the only person to feel this way.

It definately had it's moments, but I have to agree. I think the commercial would have been much more driving if they put the "Wii" in some actual clothes and held off on all the slapping and close ups. Heck, I'd probably be converted right now, with all the lame crap Sony is putting it's self through at the moment.

I personally took that answer as kind of a warning. To me, the interview basically said, "The RIAA has us all, customers, lawyers, judges and fileshares, up on stage dancing away. And before any of us can figure out what's going on, they change the sets and music."

Ultimately, we're all pretty much standing in a grey area right now, but the RIAA has control of the show's spot light.

I've talked with the guys at my local Gamestop. You know what they tell me? The majority of "M" games they sell to minors are bought by those kid's parents. What good would more law, more red tape do if parents willingly bypass it completely, if only unintentionally? Sure, they tell me that every now and then, there's a parent who looks at their kid in the store and says, " Nuh-uh, you're not getting any of those 'M' games," so some parents are catching on. The point is that some parents are catching on, and to change it now would only mess things up for the responsible ones. We need to give the system some time. Eventually, gamers everywhere will grow up and spawn their own offspring and they will understand the ratings system.

Of course, once that happens, all of our Manchurian pre-programming will activate and squads of highly skilled, highly focused gamers everywhere will come out of the woodworks and destroy the american way of life and apple pie.

Or, that's why Jack Thompson told me anyways.

At least Kerry would stop to take care of his duties as Senator while campaining, Bush couldn't be bothered to respond to hurricane Katrina when it was his duty to do so.

The problem with the car anology isn't that it's about taking parts from one car and putting them into another, it's about two different cars using the same road. Just because Dodge makes the Ram truck doesn't mean that it's impossible to drive it on the same roads as a Honda Accord would. The actual inner workings of the vehicles may be different enough where you can't swap parts between them, but that doesn't mean you must drive down a special lane specific to your manufacturer while heading to work, or suffer dire consequences. The standards aren't in how the parts interact, but in how they work as a whole along side other systems.

What I want to know is, how extreme is this magnetic field? I was under the impression that Fusion Reactors have some pretty intense fields emitted to prevent super heated plasma from escaping the device, and I've never heard about them flying off into the next solar system. Also, this would have some serious implications for future ship building, as you couldn't exactly rely on using steel anywhere in the ship. Even in a button on the controll panel, because it would take off like a bullet as soon as these "warp drives" started up. But then again, maybe that's why everything seems to be made of plastic in Star Trek?

Even if some of his points weren't the best, I know I would personally loathe the idea of having somebody constantly watching me. I don't do bad things. I hate being watched. If I'm left to my own devices, I'm going to remain an upstanding citizen. And who says that this tech won't be exploited by people worse than the government? Like the afore mentioned terrorists. Maybe they would scope an area they wanted to attack, find someone who drives a car they can easily buy somewhere else and trick the GPS into thinking that it is their neighbor's car. Then they go wild, shoot up the neighborhood, blow up a bank, whatever. While the cops are busy investigating the neighbors, the real terrorists make a clean break and run for the hills.
