do you know the reason why MS has not been split up?
because george w bush fired the boss of the cartel office and replaced him by an MS fan, after MS sponsored his election campaign
I have no doubt that the court will find that patent infringements outside the US will be punishable in the US because of two reasons:
1: thats what the software industry wants
2: the US even convicted a guy for running an online gambling site in the UK - why should they handle patent infringement different? http://yro.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=06/09/07/20 17201&from=rss
if the security researcher (hacker) just reverse-engineered the program then it's just a violation of the license terms and a court will tell you to find him on your own...
if the security researcher broke into microsofts servers, then it's a much bigger deal and a court might give you 150 agents to hunt the hacker...
this has happened before... Apple did exactly this and they got the 150 agents for a violation of the license agreement... that was the first big case for the electronic frontier foundation
the data is already availiable and this will only make people be able to understand and access them better and easier
in germany the budget reports are public too. an independent consortium reads them and makes a list of the biggest tax wastes and the media publish this list... and you know what - its always the same, the politicians never stop wasting incredible ammounts of money, no matter if it gets public attention... these lists (although everyone is shocked every time) change NOTHING
so my guess is: this great new system won't change a thing!
when you send an eCard to someone, you have to submit your email adress and the email adress of the recipient... and guess what - the eCard providers sell these email adresses to spammers! - surprise surprise! did you think they had done the programming work and offer the service and their traffic for free?
not even videos are allowed as evidence in courts, how do they think "I saw a screenshot" could be allowed as evidence? allowing this as evidence in court would be dictatorship!
do it like the german chaos computer club and pirate party, BOYCOTT THE MUSIC INDUSTRY! LISTEN TO CREATIVE COMMONS MUSIC! it's great music and it's free and the damn music industry can't prosecute you for listening to it for free!
also how is W(i)MP11 going to stop people from moving files to a different location if they're using a file browser and W(i)MP11 is turned off? this can only stop dumb people who don't know how to move files manually...
how is it with creative commons music? I think if WMP doesn't allow people to move CC music then the EFF should go to law with MS as tough as MS goes to law with people who infringe THEIR copyrights...
lastly: this "no ripping without asking MS servers" policy will lead to one result: noone will use this program anymore...
I bet someone would write a virus that just opens this site and distributes itself (via email or attacking exploits like the blaster worm did)
so everyone gets in jail for having an insecure OS/Browser... well that wouldn't be so bad;)
The other players are just jealous p***ys who wish they had the ability to cheat.
HAHA like cheating was a great gift - a gift like skill that he is jealous of
Aeropause: Do you have a girlfriend?
Schmuck5000: What kind of freaking question is that for this kind of interview? How does me having a girlfriend relate to cheating? (AP: We will take that as a NO!)
HAHA pwned ^^
they bitch and morn about how I cheated but they could have modded their box just like mine
oh, great, so what if everyone cheated? then the aimbot with the lowest ping would win... so gaming would basically be competing in the game called "who can buy the most bandwith"... thats real skill...
They should have built a anti-cheating engine in the game to prevent it. Its not my fault that modders cheat.
but it's his fault that HE cheats... and there IS an anti-cheating engine - thats why you have to modify the hardware to cheat...
I can play each and every game I cheat at very well. I will own anyone on the battlefield even without a mod
so why doesn't he do it then? that doesn't make sense...
Everyone wants to cheat and we will always find a way to do it
I don't want to cheat - tried it, was no fun anymore - honesty might be one reason, why I DO have a girlfriend *LOL*
Anyone reading this is simply jealous of the fact that I have enough nuts to cheat
so you need to have nuts to play a game where you can't lose? I'd say this is exactly what you need to be missing... you wouldn't say it's heroic to stab someone in the back, would you?
really guys - don't call this "slownewsday" because this is a really delightful read ^^ although I spoiled everything now;) also the comments are fun
at the RWTH in Aachen, Germany we have dozens of (video)recorded lectures... students ask the professors if they may record the lecture, then THE STUDENTS record the lecture, edit the stuff and upload them to our student information site, where you can download them all for free...
If you buy a CD-R of software with the title and S/N written on it with a Sharpie
well the thing about this is: you are legal owner of the thing you bought, IF you have no good reason to beleive it was illegit... otherwise you have to go to the police or you make yourself complicit and can get in trouble if you are cought
But if you buy stolen goods, the cops can confiscate the property from you, and return it to its rightful owner. You forfeit it because it was stolen. Why not with software or other intellectual property? If you unknowingly buy stolen goods, can you sue the seller for your money back when the cops take the item away from you?
no, they can't take stolen goods away, because you are the legal owner, because you have a contract with the seller - he makes you legal owner of the item for the agreed price... if he didn't have the right to, then HE has to make you the legal owner subsequently (for example by paying for the product he sold to you)
in german law it is like this: you buy something, it belongs to you... if the seller didn't have the right to sell it to you (for example he didn't have a copyright to a software) it is his problem... if you get caught, then he has to settle for the damage. for example he has to buy the licenses he sold subsequently (and make lots of loss *haha*) - this is not your problem, because to you the transaction is finished, you bought a legal license and he has to deliver a legal license... even if this means that he has to pay more for it subsequently than you paied him, because thats what his part of the contract was, he also can't demand more money, because the price you paied is the price in the contract for a legal license...
now if this story is for real then I say it is FUD... those guys figured that grannies can be scared easily and beleive you and pay out of fear from punishment... they will rott in hell...

I wonder if Apple had changed anything if that report had gotten no attention by the media
so, a humans life is worth $200 million?
let's start saving our money to "buy" Jack Thomsons life...
