Criminals will be criminals. You arm every citizen, then criminals will up the weapons they carry, they will most likely take that as a sign that we live in a hostile environment and the criminal will most likely take lives a lot easier. Carrying a gun isn't going to deter criminals otherwise gas stations wouldn't get robbed anymore.
This is assuming you were a crack shot and that you checked your background for innocent people first. Also, just because you have a gun it doesn't mean you are bullet proof. As easily as you could shoot the killer, the killer can shoot you.
Well then tell that to all the gun nuts who think they need a gun to defend their family. Now they can just grab the nearest object and splatter away. This doll will do.
Imagine that playing out in a sci fi movie.
Captain: Crew we are low on hydrogen sulfide to go into suspended animation during our light speed jump.
Crew: What's that mean captain?
Captain: Well, we have to eat these burritos and then pass this jar around.
I predict that someday people will like the FISH as well as the troll. Sure they are hated now, but one day they will save a child from a fire and we will hold them up on our shoulders.
Nintendo doesn't really care about HD or online play and look how well they are doing. They are the top selling console. If M$ wants to get into the DLC of HD movies, then they need to start allowing end users to buy the movies instead of only renting them. That would be the start.
Couldn't they just remind the companies that they own the patents and that usage will come at a certain price? This way the consumer is happy and Seagate is happy.
I think you've hit the nail on the head. Companies shouldn't be concerned, but enlightened to the fact that the search functions they have on their site is not functional. These companies should also talk to their web site coder and see why their search engine doesn't work as well as googles. I hate using search features on sites and forums, because the results come back with thousands of options, which none of them are the results I'm looking for. Maybe with Googles help the results will pull up exactly what the potential customer is looking for and connect them to the product sooner.
I have a friend who plays PC games and sometimes he pirates PC games that he has purchased, just so he can do things like not have to insert the disc to play.
Perfect example is people who went out and bought the first generation of retail HDTVs. There was very little HD programming and HD disc players weren't out, and no upscaling, so the TVs were just for show. Those people found out that they would have to upgrade to a new HDTV later because HDMI was added to HD players and HDTVs became bigger, sharper, and look much better.
I would like to see these bands take it a little further though. What about making the music available to use in Indy movies? Is it easier now to use a NIN song or Radiohead song in a low budget movie, or are there a lot of fees and lawyers to deal with?
why would that matter to the average consumer? No one types in HTTP when going to a website. If there was another protocol, it would go unnoticed to the end user, just like they don't see the difference between a site written in CSS, Javascript, DHTML, XML, etc.
This post has a good point that your average consumer (such as myself) will want addressed. Why are there 15 different notepad programs? Is the one installed on Ubuntu not the one with all the notepad features that I need? Why are there 5 different Word Processing programs? Is Abiword better than Open Office?
Your average computer user doesn't care about which operating system they use. It's like when average people argue about Mac vs PC, no one ever talks about how the OS are different, but instead they name off programs that the other one doesn't use. Or they throw out myths that they've heard on TV, like you can't edit on a PC. Which your average consumer doesn't know if it's true or not. The point I'm making is that software I think is the bigger issue than the OS itself. I have a computer running Ubuntu and I have to say that it's the best OS I've used and it's way easier than I thought it would be, but I don't use it for much because the software on it is lacking. Don't get me wrong there is tons of software available for it, but I need some good video editing software to make it a computer I would use everyday.
. . . The Onion, who seem to be the only ones reporting on news that's important to me.

Whatever happened to the days of using paintball guns that looked like real guns?

Spending eternity in heaven with those type of people will surely make it feel like hell.

I usually end up realizing that it wasn't worth pirating as well.
Is revenue loss due to piracy even quantifiable? Some stuff that I've pirated is stuff I would have never bought or rented.

That's a start. I wouldn't mind paying for it either as long as it was cheaper and didn't require tons of paperwork that I don't understand.

How did the iPhone change the face of the cell phone market? It seems exactly the same.
Let's just say it's a lot of pr0n.
Can't we all just get along. Too soon, too soon
I don't worry about cancer, therefore cancer shouldn't be a problem for everyone else. Is that what you are saying?

Just to be fair are you counting iPods, iPhones, and Xbox consoles?

This is all part of the plan to have Steve show up on ABC's LOST as one of the survivors in the background.
