Firstly - I'd love to see photos when this is done!
I'd also like to point out - I have tattoos across my chest and I also have bright pink hair. I've never had issues getting a snr technical position and have never been told that I must cover them at all times.
Lastly, I don't care if you don't like my tattoos. I don't care if you think they look trashy. Chances are I don't like your white lardy ass or long greasy hair. In fact, there's a really good chance that I'm repulsed by it. Interestingly, I don't feel the need to tell you that when I see you in the street.
it doesn't matter if flowers die, they make your day!
When my bf sends me flowers out of the blue he can do no wrong for weeks. And I agree, a nice dinner together with a man that you care for is great too.
really? I'm more than happy with a bunch of flowers and some candy.
Valentines day isn't really anything that is that meaningful as far as I can tell so I don't see the need for anything over the top. I thought it was just a day that forced guys to pretend that they're capable of fulfilling our romantic fantasises:P
I absolutely agree with this. Women are much more competitive than men. unfortunately this means a male boss wont promote you because you're not one of the boys and a female boss wont promote you because she's competing with you.
If your boss doesn't appreciate the work you do enough to keep you, chances are they don't think there is anything you know that is that important. They will replace you with a uni grad anyhow. Granted they might have pain once your gone but you still lose your job.
Wouldn't it be better to have a well documented network and the respect of your co-workers so that its easier to find new work?
If you have windows you'd need to be running NT to have PDC on your network - so I'd be more concerned about that being on your references.
If you have windows 2000/2003 you can't have a local admin password on a domain controller, but it would be good to store the enterprise admin and directory services restore password some place.
Server 2008 allows you to have local admin access.
I'd never watched Star Trek, so my nerd bf took me to see it with his friends. I have to say - it was snoreworthy. I really didn't like anything about it:| But the guys I went with said it was pretty good, and they liked that is was pretty true to the original series.
Maybe it was the constantly half naked Hugh Jackman, but i liked wolverine better.
It seems both movies were kind of "guy" movies though. Lots of long fighting scenes, zzzZZzzzz:P
And future employers will appreciate that you can come in, tidy things up and document them so that when you want to take a holiday someone can fumble their way though what needs to be done.
I document everything I do and happily teach the support guys etc whatever they are keen to learn, and yeah, I've been replaced by one of them on occasion. But when i look back I'm glad I don't work for those tight ass bosses any more.
As an added bonus everyone else I worked with gives me glowing references and referrals because they respected me. You can make yourself valuable without withholding knowledge.
I totally agree. We just got taken over by a company that uses themes and i have no clue what server does what. All of a sudden, small tasks extremley time consuming.
I work for a company that uses it for client uploads and i cant disable it - only lock it down for access by certain Ip addresses.
In this situation - how do you monitor and lock it down as much as you can?
I agree. I'm good at my job and i don't see why its such a big deal that I'm a female. More than anything I'm just so tired of having to prove myself over and over before my superiors stop treating me like the receptionist. I've worked just as hard as everyone else in the office to get where i am so stop acting like I'm a lesser being, stop commenting on my boobs and start treating me like a human.
On another note - I've met some nerd boys that are fantastic. They're respectful, friendly and we get along really well. They're the guys that make it easier to stay in the industry doing what i love so kudos to them.
Just as a side noe.. here in Aus we have extensive programs to try encourage guys to become primary school teachers becuase there are so few male teachers.
If you get your software certified its the easiest path to becoming a MS partner - which means you get a bucket load of MS business software for nix. (Microsoft CRM, office, exchange, ISA, server etc)
Even though you need to jump though hoops to get certified and it costs a bundle.
Henna/mehindi - stinks. Having a stinky arm - will not impress anyone.

While that's funny.. and you got a chuckle out of me - I'm proud to say that I can run in all my stiletto heels :)
But still, good call :)
I rebelled against my hippy drug dealing parents by becoming a straight edge capitalist nerd! I never want to be like them.

I have to say i agree. I just work here, i don't make the policies. It's easier to let HR deal with people that think they should be exempt.
its true, we love badasses.
yeah lan surveyor has helped me discovering undocumented networks. It's pretty good.

Best advice I ever heard - "if you cant be replaced you cant be promoted"
If i switched to ie i'd really miss the plugins i have like session manager, for example.
f*ck that would be annoying to try and figure out if you were new.
