I initially signed up so that i could buy handbags from a lady who made them - but only had a my space page. I couldn't message her without an account. Now I'm ashamed to say I'm a myspace whore and spend heaps of time just checking people out. Its amazing the people I've met in my local town through it.
Design wise it is a disaster, it would be nice if the music didn't play automatically and there was a limit on the number of movies/sideshows that you could post - some of the pages are just massive.
So true. I was made redundant in a job i gave my heart and soul to. My boss said he knew the new guy wouldn't do as well as me, he was sorry to let me go... but he was almost half the price so it was the easiest way to make budget..
I could understand - they could handle the drop in quality when they considered how much money they'd save.

A friend built my page while he was learning, so i didn't have great expectations for the quality of the coding or graphics.
I'm the only girl in the team of guys here and i just made sure they knew i was happy to be one of the boys - while still being a bit of a princess. It took them a little while but most of them are cool with me now. A couple of them still think blond hair and no penis makes me a moron, but most of the guys are great:)
90% of the guys i know call me to fix thier computer issues, i just call them to fix my car so ease up there on the ladies, i might be blond and busty but im not stupid.
I put other peoples junk mail in the reply paid envelopes and post it back, so i send visa lots of pizza vouchers and mastercard lots of real estate pamphlets:P
I don't think we are victims really, it's just that heaps of chicks who do choose to work in IT get treated like an alien species, and the amount of guys that treat me like an air head because I've got blond hair and stiletto heels pisses me off.
That said - I think a lot of guys in the industry probably treat their male co-workers as is they're mentally retarded too and it's probably not only directed at me. There are heaps of ppl in their industry that simply know everything.
