This is not a troll. This is a truth. Some of the reasons why things are the way they are have no meaning to someone who just wants something better then windows. He indicated that he did read the man page. It's not obvious to someone new that man uses vi to display the help. He used man, not vi so he would not have had any idea that he could have used Shift-ZZ or q! or whatever. The problem with the basic stuff is it's not fun for the hacker. Doing the mundane things like making the interface nicer for new users isn't fun....it's tedious. There in lies the issue. If it's good enough for the hacker, it doesn't get work. Good enough for the hacker is not good enough for the user.

Noone has covered all the good that has been done in Iraq thus far. There has been deaths....The Bush admin doesn't deny it. War is hell. The total truth of the Iraq war won't come out until well after it's done. There may be classified information that will reveal proof of WMD or other justification for the war, but what most liberals do not get is we can't divulge things that may be damaging to the safety of our servicemen. Yes their safety IS threatened already. That is just a fact of life in Iraq....you have insurgents gunning for you. Bush is right.....we cannot leave Iraq without a stable government. Also, I have yet to hear anything out of the military that states they think they should be leaving. Liberals will say that this is becaus ethey have to say what Rummy says but that's not true. Our military leaders have every right we do and can have their own opinion. They may have to DO what Rumsfeld and company say, but they can have and do have their own opinions and have shared them as well.

Don't just blindly put in #!/bin/sh and expect your bash specific code to work fine. If your using bash, put the path to bash in there. If your using something else like ksh or pdksh then put the path to that in there. Don't expect #!/bin/sh to always point to bash or any other shell.

    2. If on Dapper, upgrade to Edgy then the next version.
    3. If worse, do all the upgrades in between.....but recommend fresh install.

I myself did not mind having to do a fresh install, but concur that the apt-method is horribly broken. Needs to be rectified for the next upgrade. EVEN then.....do a backup and download the iso as you will want to have it for future fresh installs or for passing out at LUG meetings.

Since even update manager uses apt and deb packages, it should be a no brainer but it isn't Granted, you will STILL have issues with non official repos that we HAVE to use to get MP3, Windows Media and DVD working as Ubuntu cannot ship these due to legal reasons.

Care to post references? I don't see any huge mormon influence in any of the councils or troops I have been involved with over the years. In fact, I have seen mostly UMC and Lutheran Churches and even some schools have scouting branches. In our Council, Simon Kenton, I have seen no evidence of any religion coming out at all. In fact, it's probably 70-80 percent secular.

The Church of God near my house has a different form of scouting. I do not remember the exact name of the group, but there is a national presence with this group as well. They don't have a membership the size of the BSA, but they are there. This organization truly is evangelistic in their methods and they definitely are a Christian organization.

Check out the troops when your son is of age and check out the true rules and leadership materials. They don't really focus on any religion. They ask that you profess a religion. They do refer to god in their laws but there's no real reference to the bible anywhere that I can find in my training materials that I have gotten thus far. The national organization is a fine one and they have made sound decisions in my opinion. The life experiences I have gotten in scouts were almost all entirely secular in nature and very valuable.
