The new Dell small form factor pc's our hospital is putting out (GX620) are exactly like what you're talking about. Huge laptop-style power brick, and the connection snaps on the back of the case with the same style plug that the PS normally snaps onto the motherboard. I know you're not looking to buy a new pc for your task, but still, this thing seems to be catching on to some extent.

Well, i have an SUV because i play in a band. I haul amps, speakers, guitars, and drums on a daily basis. I also rode on the bike team in college, so i got a vehicle that could carry my bike inside if needed.

so what's your point? not everyone drives an SUV for the reasons you guys have stated. (power/wealth/potency)

Besides, a 2-door Explorer is hardly a Humvee. In fact, its the same frame-size as a Ranger pickup or an S-10. So the cargo compartment is *inside* instead of *outside*. An amazing revelation.

An F-150 is the same frame-size as the Expedition. There's plenty of idiots driving full-size pickup trucks that are too afraid of scratching their bedliner to actually haul anything... Amazingly, they've been getting the same ~20mpg for YEARS and nobody has complained.

What are you talking about? So you like Family Guy and Simpsons better. So what? Have you flipped through your cable channels lately?

  11. Couple of points on Toshiba Introduces U.S. First HD DVD Players · · Score: 1

Just a couple of things to add. 1. there will be no point in buying your old dvd's again in HD. only new movies from here on out will matter anyway. Yes, they'll release a new version of the old Star Wars trilogy, but it was filmed in analog back in the day, and there's no more quality to gain than the DVD already squeezes out.

    2. Are there any tv's that have >1 HDMI connection? I don't think i've seen a set with more than one. I've got a new 50" sony, and it's only got 1 HDMI which is already used.

    3. It will be a slow changeover, since the appeal for the average consumer won't be that high. Tapes to CD's? Huge. VHS to DVD? Huge. But as other people have said, it wasn't just for the quality. It was the ability to skip around + the extra content. And because of this...

    3. I predict HD-DVD will suffer the same fate as SACD/DVD-A, only to a lesser degree. Self-proclaimed HD connoisseurs (aka your average best buy shopper) will be able to tell a difference in quality. self-proclaimed audiophiles mostly don't really know what to listen for/what sounds good).

When you arrive at the store, they see the record on their machine, and you walk out with your item.
