Multi-proc for AMD is fairly recent, and if I am not wrong it goes up to 2! I have been running stuff on 4 and 8-proc machines for 2 years now, Mister.
Corp. America wants to see future. Upgradable future. Clear vision for the future. 64 bit path and bigger cache and other techs... Intel shows them that they have the plans while AMD is busy "emulating" Intel's codes.
AMD is cheap for the consumers, the general consumers who care more about brand name than just price. AMD is/.'s fav. But how many/.ers out there actually influent corp. purchase decisions? or make a dent in the consumer purchase behavior?
AMD better think of some other plan. NOW.
It has been proven again and again that the consumers just do not buy the cheapest nor the best technology. BetaMax, Apple are amongst a fews examples.
Well, if it was all about the price, then the supplier(s), Gateway in this case, would suffer greatly due to the assumed "cheaper" demand.
But NO, there are more than just the price. People want brandname. Companies want compatibility and upgradability (Multi-Proc).
So there.
If AMD is any good, they should not run after Intel but ahead of Intel. So far, still running after and smelling the dust (in term of R &D, and product lines.)
Considering how many F*$k and %$#@! words are there in a rap song, or how defensive they (RIAA) were against Tipper Gore, it is not a surprise that the big bad ugly wolf has to drop a few cents to "defense basics rights."
How can Apple does it so easy with BSD kernel that linux geeks can't do with linux kernel? Put a good GUI and management features etc.. on it!!!
It has been a long time for linux geeks to fight internally, wait a bit longer and OS X "might" take over the *NIX world iff they allow some open source/license method to their GUI.
Has anyone ever listened to Gore and saw the resemblance to those TV evangelists? The ones that never bother to tell the true even a tiny itsy bitsy bit?
just that they are paying an obscene amount of money for it.
Many of you are debating morality and ethics and what-nots. But I see this scenario is the same one as the long distance telephone companies offered a while ago in the US. MCI, AT&T and Sprint sent out millions of checks of amounts from USD $20.00-150.00 just to convince people to switch to their plans. There WAS no debate of morality or ethics then (at least to my knowledge) when people jumped Jumping from one long distance carrier to the next one to take advantage of the deal. Cashing out those checks DID cost the companies some money. The competition was so fierce that the cost did not mean much and they littered my mail boxes with checks;-) Did any moral customer lose any slepep then? Moooooo-rality
Now Microsoft basically wants you to test out their MSN service since they can not convince people to click on that icon on their win98 desktop. Well duh, it is going to cost MS 400 bucks to get my name, address, credit card number and SSN. Obviously about 10,000 people have bitten, including yours truly.:P~~
Ain't many black guys already called each other "nigga" or any variation thereof? Same thing apply for gays who call each other "fags"? Acceptable terms in this situation is relative while FUCK is already one of those 7(9?) "forbidden" words. It is easier just to grab the radio/TV list and keep it as a bible, make believe to the world that they are highly moral. I wonder if interNIC ever censor those other cuss words in other languages besdies English? What *OTHER* languages? Duh.... it is called the WORLD WIDE....blahz... Annamite, Love to eat the forbidden fruits;-)

You think these lawyers must have research thru slashdot's posts for their cases?
Is it why it takes them so long to countersue? (-:

This should be mod-ed up to 5 to be equal to the mentioned "funny" ones.
Nope. Still vote the same. For Nader.

. Rename the file to 'I HATE YOU'
. Change the wording in the body mesg: I HATE YOU!. If you lick on this icon, you will die!
. Make myself a nice lemondade and watch CNN until the report of the "newer and more powerful virus appears" comes up
. Wait until either
1: FBI agents knock on my doors OR
2: Die of old age.
just that they are paying an obscene amount of money for it.
