  1. Re:Why is this news? on Yahoo Defends Itself On China Allegations · · Score: 1

True it is important and that could be why it is making the news. Making something out of nothing can make naive people think differently/poorly about said company. A very good point - I am not sure why I overlooked that, but thanks for bringing it up.

  2. Why is this news? on Yahoo Defends Itself On China Allegations · · Score: 1, Insightful
I really do not understand the reason this is such big news in recent months. China is not the United States and they not only can, but do run things differently. Because of this, things like this will happen to people and companies alike. I do not think China regards Yahoo! services as a prime place to find the bad apples. I am sure that this happens to local companies all the time in China - why is it that when it happens to an American based company competing with Google that it makes the news.

I say let China do what China is going to do and lets concentrate on making things better in America first - then we can work on improving China's (online) rights.

but they will certainly not lose either. Having used both Windows and Mac for a while now, I can honestly say I do not prefer one over the other for general use. When it gets down to working though, each OS can offer me different things in different areas. An example would be that when working I would like to use a Mac for design and image processing of whatever kind. At home I may want to play a game or two and I would not get a Mac for that now would I. Creating a niche for certain things could what got the company to this point as it is, but they are only just now expanding on the success the last couple years.

I am certainly happy that Apple/Macs are getting better and better and are able to compete with Microsoft/Windows. All that does for us is give us better products faster from both companies and I am certainly not going to be upset with that.

devalue employees and want to keep them down. When I was hired at my current position, they actually asked if I was a member of any organization/association. They then went on to say that I should look into these things, but they never really clarified why. For example, the Man at this company belongs to some Association of CEO's or something like that. The sales people belong to something else and marketing has its own group too. While falling short of being a union, these associations to promote a more productive, education, and valuable employee.

I dont know about the rest of you, but Nintendo really made it easy to choose which next gen to invest in.

  6. Intel has the power... on Intel Admits To Falling Behind AMD · · Score: 3, Insightful
Intel may be losing market share right now, but as the article mentions, Intel plans on changing that and I think they have the power to do so. Intel still has the best name recognition on top of a steady advertising campaign over the last several years. They certainly have the power to take back what was lost and continue advancing in other markets.

AMD on the other hand is showing steady and strong growth. It has solidified its place in the market and has shown that it not only can compete, but will continue to innovate and compete with Intel.

In the end, something like this is only good for the consumers. Intel admitting losses to AMD will raise the bar of both companies so they can continue to compete, bring us better technology, faster.

  7. Did Anyone Think About It? on Nintendo Revolution Renamed 'Wii' · · Score: 1
The jokes maybe be funny now, but when you think about what they may be doing here, it is not a bad idea at all. When I see the name Wii, I am not thinking it is named as such for the sound of the word. I doubt the company would use a word/sound like that for the name based on nothing but the pronunciation of it.

What is more likely is that this name is the representation or altered abbreviation of the actual name. Similar to the Nintendo DS (Dual Screen) - This could very well be the Nintendo Wii (Wireless Interactive) and the two lower-case i's bring the interactive point home more so than just Wi or WI.

In the recent past, Nintendo has named recent products with simple, or informative names. Micro because its small, DS for two screens, and the Game Boy has had similar names for all its models and upgrades. Even the gamecube was simple and self informative - Taking the name Wii at face value right now is probably not the smartest thing ever.

will be under these kind of attacks all the time. Geeks, like everyone else, wants to stick it to the man. The man in this case is Gates and Windows. While this does not excuse the flaws and lack of attention at times, it does present another angle. To make a OS as robust as windows without things like this happening is hard to imagine honestly. If Macs were what windows is today, the story would be the complete opposite I assure you. You see the SAME thing in popular games as well. The most hacked games are the biggest and best, not because it is easier, but there are far more people attempting to exploit the system.

If a law like this were to pass, the state would be hurt in the bank account for it. Pair that with the fact that you arent protecting kids from these games, you are only forcing them to get them through other means.

The state will lose a decent amount just from sales tax from these games and all the while kids are still buying the games online and givin money to out of state companies.

Nothing really helps these motions along, the more you look at it, the more you laugh at the proposition.
