India is not so much of a starving country, so as it seems to the western eyes. India's grain storage were spilling with wheat last year, alas if only it can reach those in need.Corruption and burecracy has taken its toll on food distribution programme, but India doesn't need and expect world to feed its huge population. You must be living under rock, but India is actually a big donor to the World food programme. India was 5th largest supplier of food to Iraq.

India supplies food and aid to countries like Bhutan,Nepal and other African countries.
Dont say ITunes is fast man...i am on AMD64 3200 with 1GB of ram(Win XP) and what not...and it is slow..Amarok or Bunshee runs faster on my inferior notebook.r
>> I know what you mean. In Linux, I used tons of music apps like Banshee and Amarok for their features, but got >>up and went back to XMMS for its speed. JIT languages are NOT appropriate for every task.
Me too...but the news is at least Amarok is written in C++, and i find Amarok and Banshee comparable in speed.So...where are we? Native code is not necceasrily fast.
But Amarok is still a lot popular..there are speed/memory/CPU freak inside all of us..who want to run "free -m" or rather set that as PS1 itself..or do top or run some other CPU/memory monitor.
Basically, If we have 1GB ram and lets say FF and Amarok together takeup 300MB and we have some 400MB free...then there are freaks here...who would switch to XMMS, because they think...what the heck Amarok is taking sooo much of memory. Its psychological and have felt myself sometimes...are you gonna take that "free memory" to your death bed? You have a sufficient fast system with Suse10 but you get this constant "need" to compile Gentoo on your notebook, so as to save CPU cycles and memory. Few guys...who advocate native code here...are just speed freaks like this....they dont care how user friendly or useful a program is, but they are gonna dump it because it takes memory and curse the hell outta plugin engine/scripting engine supported by that app.
And somebody talked about gaming apps...agreed they will be written in Native languages mostly, but just write the AI logic for me in one of those big games in C. Will you? Ha...second life...runs almost >2000 script threads in their games. There is a place for everything..just dont curse interpreted languages yet.
I am not sure..how interpreted languages will scale once multi-core and cell architectures take over the world..i don't know basically. But can't we have runtimes written specifically for those architectures...and may be they will provide us new PARAMS to optimize the interpreted code.
And like M$ bashing, one of these days..everybody would dump some shit on ruby on rails.People would compare it with PHP..and what not.Somebody asked about a high load server and who is stupid enough to write it in interpreted languages? Well...we are working on a application server almost entirely written in ruby ( parts in C actually, which were not doable in ruby) and it works as charm.
Yes that is correct...there are distros..where you end up spending all your time in administrating it, like Gentoo or Slackware and there are distros which will not have any of the development tools(if you are a linux user..you will miss them over time) like Ubuntu... Fedora is a nice mix..and i love it.
And apart from Linux Kernel...most part of Linux is beta anyway...unless you chose to run Slackware with ancient libs...

"It will run Linux"? I would rather have "It will run on Linux"?
