do you really think that without the litigation it would now be possible to install firefox on a windows computer?

your comparison is ludicrous. where are the tens of thousands of developers of software for tv remotes being forced to support ie6 or ie7 or w3c or do a lot more work? where are the tens of thousands of tv channels which can only be switched to if you're using a certain brand of remote?

i imagine you know what the problems with bundling a non-standards-compliant webbrowser with the system are. as far as i can tell, there would be no problem with microsoft implementing a package manager as long as the oems would be allowed and encouraged to configure their own lists of software for the package manager.

That's also when the comments - many of them angry, rude, and hateful - started pouring in. Some Ubuntu users accused 27 News of "unscrupulous reporting," hitting a "new low for local news," and writing an "atrocious article." Many Ubuntu users also wrote very personal attacks about the young lady who was having trouble using the operating system. They called her "lazy," "a dumb girl," and "not worthy of a college degree." The young woman also contacted 27 News to report she's being harassed on her Facebook account by Ubuntu users.

boy, does this ever stink of astroturfing by you-know-who.

i don't know any browser with out of the box flash. i thought you always had to install flash. does anybody know if vista comes with flash installed on ie7?

as it is, it may be even worse. if i recall correctly, genetic testing has shown that palestinians are the semites of the old testament. they simply stayed in the area and converted to islam.

it would allow me to do everything a wanted with a non-intel architecture. flash is the last bastion of hardware (and operating system) lock-in for me.

one of the main problems is horizontal gene transfer. an example of this would be camels and llamas which due to a freak of nature can reproduce and their offspring may well be fertile. if these two populations of quite disparate animals did come together due to geographic changes and interbreed (which is unlikely for a number of reasons), the resulting dna would be quite confusing.

in fact the basic idea of a 'tree of life' is quite untidy. what happens for example if a virus infects a host and splices its own dna into the host's? in some cases it's best to discard the idea of a tree altogether and regard taxonomy as a network.
