  1. This is a beta! on Mandrake Releases 9.1b1, New Packaging Model · · Score: 1

The summary seemed a little misleading. This is beta, which accounts for the "pre","alpha", "beta" package names.

  2. Re:Interesting on IBM Dropping Laptop Linux Support · · Score: 5, Insightful
I think you pointed it out yourself...

People don't buy many small computers just because they will run Linux (the geek population just isn't that large). People do, however, blow large chunks of cash on big machines just to run Linux. Mom-and-Pop can almost always undercut IBM on prices for small machines, and geeks are thrifty.

The point is there's not a lot of money to be made there. One thing we've got to remember is that regardless of how "cool" something is, if it doesn't generate enough money for the company, it won't last long. Just look at what IBM did the the folks in San Jose. Hard drives just don't have the same profit margin as a p-series, or z-series server, or selling lots of software and consulting services. That's where the money is, not in working with the Linux community to make sure every major distro will run on IBM's laptop. There are plenty of people who do that for free. Why should IBM pay someone to do that?

    Just my 2 cents.

You can run Notes R5 under Wine (post 01/2001 builds, I believe).
The link below might have some notes to help you get it up and running if you are interested.

  4. Money out the wahzoo... on But What About the Commercials? · · Score: 1

The only one that was laugh-out-loud funny. I also liked the Queen parody Mtn. Dew commercial and the E-trade monkey. Over all, I was pretty disappointed...
And what was that about herding stray cats???? Not exactly the association I'd want my business to have with E-commerce. What was EDS thinking?

psst, this site is an experiment to see how long it will be before Yahoo takes advantage of its rights like others have done before them.

Neanmoins, votre traduction etait pas mal... je crois bien que je ne pouvais pas faire aussi bien si j'essayerais d'en faire une d'anglais en francais :)

  7. Peace that surpasses understanding on Jesux is a Bad Pun · · Score: 1
Check out Philippians 4:6-7 "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus"

As to what salvation feels like, it isn't a feeling. It doesn't feel like anything. Being saved is more like being a son or daughter, there is no "feeling" associated with it. It is a state of being or a relationship. Salvation has been linked to joy, but joy and happiness are completely different. See the book of Philippians for more info.

Finally, as to speaking in toungues, although I don't deny the gift exists, I would not consider it a prerequisite for salvation.

"Continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose." Philippians 2:13-14
