I've taken a look at the syllabus (http://www.uconline.edu/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/Math-1A-Syllabus-SAMPLE.pdf ) You see this in college ? (and 40 hours http://math.berkeley.edu/courses/choosing/lowerdivcourses/math1A ?) You don't have that kind of courses at 16-17 years in high school in the US ?
(to be fair, it was also part of the program at my European university, but in a more bigger analysis package, and that was seen in something like 10 hours in the start of the 80 or 90 hours course to be sure that everyone had the required level. But there was a math exam to pass to apply for the university. All that stuff was in the program of the exam)
You're right. That makes me think. Don't ban gun possession. Ban gun manufacturing and importation. And gun selling. And gun gift. You still have the right to possess an arm. But not the right to possess it in the first place. Still second amendment compliant.
That's absurd. People have gun to protect the Free State, not to protect house. So guns have nothing to do with house protection or shooting in schools.
No person shall [...] nor be deprived of [...] property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.
Seems to me to be a right to own anything, including a car.
At Thales Alenia Space the coding rule says: Ada keywords in lower case. Everything else in upper case.
THAT WAS AWFUL TO READ, IT'S LIKE SOMEONE IS YELLING AT YOU. YOU WANT A break AFTER A FEW MINUTES. It was also awful to write, so after some times I wrote a script to change everything from normal programming style to this crazy idea. Nobody knows why this rules was there, I guess that the one who write this rule didn't want to buy new glasses.
He is speaking about copyfree, for which GNU GPL is not free enough, because you have restrictions on redistribution. But yes, GNAT is GPL and support Ada 2012 (I don't know if the support is complete)
I have used Ada professionally. I was working at Thales Alenia Space. I have mostly done software testing, the (satellite) software was in Ada, the tests I wrote were not in Ada (but in a shitty specific language...) but I worked a lot with developers to identify the bugs. I have worked a few months as a developer, where I have directly used Ada.
But a lot of the Ada features are disabled on the embedded software for performance. (stuff like range checking and so)
I'm no more at Thales, but I am working in a satellite operator company, and a lot of our spacecraft use Ada. (but I don't see any code in my current job;-) )
These GEO plateform use Ada: Thales (ex Alcatel) SpaceBus, Astrium Eurostar, Boeing (ex Hugues) 601/702. I'm not sure for the others.
In fact it's quite funny to see of this protective law has failed. You can go in Europe and ask european manufacter to build an ITAR-free satellite. A satellite without any US technology. Good for US business.
Which government ? The one from the launcher company* ? Just ask Congo for a slot in the next launch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TrlKWtkce5I , you can probably get it if you pay enough.
* In fact if you are in the US or use any US space equipment, the US government take also a look. But just move to Europe and buy european stuff...
You can change orbit without attitude control if you can predict (without being able to control) your attitude. It may be tricky, but it's not impossible. And you can change orbit without predicting the attitude. But then you don't predict the new orbit;-)
Wait for the robot replacing the service economy. A robot in the future could cut your hair or goes in your heart to fix your valve. The service economy is not immune to automatization. And I'm looking forward to it.
We can solve that by using UTC instead of local time.
What about people playing poker with poker chips ?

And you forget banks. Very generous banks can give you some money.
Why can't America just face the reality as it is - that it is spending way too much money than it is making??
Easy solution to the problem (as you stated it) is to make more money.
In an out-of-order thread the first post is not necessary the first post.

Maybe we could ask James Cameron. Hum. Wait a minute. He is already taking part in a similar project http://www.planetaryresources.com/team/
Same as for guns. You have the right to own one. Nothing about acquiring.
*get instead of possess, the second times.

Only if you are in the unlucky less than 5% of the population of Earth which is US citizen. But yes I forgot that crazy detail.
It's not a laughing matter.

That's because of law to protect the US space industry. To protect this industry against increasing revenue.

Unemployment is not necessary a bad thing. If everyone can live confomrtably with a low "employment" level is there a problem ?

North Korea is far from being the biggest contributor to massive amounts of debris. But the two others countries in your comment...
If they currently use X chinese for the job and need Y american to replace them, and if Y < X, unemployement raise.

This is just a new Revolution by Apple. I bet that in the future a lot of other companies will copy Apple and use robots in manufacturing.
