When we get real, vigorous Net Neutrality, Google and Facebook and all their properties will be nationalized and become the Commons that they should be.

Or at least, maybe that's where Net Neutrality will lead.

The medium shouldn't be private. When an entity expands to a certain size and becomes the dominant player on a medium mostly because they 'were there first' it's time for it to become a commons that nobody owns.

During World War II there were journalists reporting most everything as it happened, to the degree that the public needed to know. Credible professional journalists who work within the system to report the facts.

And then there are people who fancy themselves as being journalists who engage as renegades and pretend they don't need to take sides.

It's impossible not to take sides, and you're defrauding yourself, and whomever else you're reporting your 'journalism' to if you pretend you haven't taken sides.

Also, S. Jobs' edict about 'stealing' should apply. Except Jobs is dead and Apple has become so 'big' that the original company is a fossil, and the people who control it now have made it a big fucking hard thing, very very VERY hard. Success does that, once the Accountants scramble aboard.

Sadly, you probably can't build it where you want to build it, because building codes and government guidelines will prevent it. Plus, you will never be able to secure the loans to build said house.

since Apple's phones are generally supported for 4+ years

I won't go so far as to call that a myth, just a misconception. Because that 4+ years is the time from the release of a new phone. Which they then sell and re-sell for several years. So you can buy a 'new' iPhone and have support dry up far earlier than 4+ years.
