So... If you manually update then you won't get any emergency calls that you have to fix right now. That's interesting.
Nothing wrong really with wanting to control the when updates apply, but saying it's because you are afraid that you might get a call while the update is happening isn't a valid reason.
Also, Windows Pro has all the options to delay, postpone, not install during specific hours, and not while you are using the computer. Or are you saying that you are using Window Home and you'd need to pay to upgrade to Pro and that is too expensive for a computer that you use for work and use 24/7?
People have always gotten cancer - so there's no reason for you not to smoke 8 packs a day in asbestos-wrapped cigarettes.
People have always died in car accidents - so there's no reason for you not to drive 120 mph without a seatbelt, after drinking a bottle of gin.
And if people ignored those massive warnings, then the population of the Earth would be smaller, and we'd be worrying less about carbon emissions and greenhouse gasses and how the population is unsustainable. Just saying.
So you are perfectly content with fearing when the next manual update will brick your computer. Perfectly reasonable.
As for updates just happening forcefully while working, that hasn't been true for a very long time, unless you keep delaying the update for weeks AND you are working outside of your normal work hours (or you haven't set windows update to not update during those hours).
The CPU can reboot the machine independent of the OS that is running. There are actually a number of ways of doing this from simply simulating (or being affected as if) power was temporarily removed, to handing off control to the BIOS to do a quick reboot.
And... Based on the fact that even fairly simple math is too complicated for you, I can both understand why you are only getting paid $60k year in an IT job, and horrified that you haven't been replaced yet.
I have 1 echo and 5 dots. They have similar functionality where if more than one hears it, then (usually) only one responds. It works well, but it's not perfect.
Music works the same way. Playing music on multiple devices are perfectly in sync.
As for the skills, that depends a lot on who the skill writer is. Nest is probably the best of the ones I've found. Philips is pretty bad. But almost all of them you can rename the device, so you don't have to call the roomba "roomba". I don't call my hue lights "philips hue color lamp 1", I call it "bathroom lights". It definitely could be improved however.
We set timers probably 15 times a day. Mostly for cooking and having a voice controller timer while cooking and your hands are either full, or covered in food is actually very nice.
As for being on the PC, well... In the past week: Twice I was either working later than I normally do, or on a day that I don't normally do, so I had to change the thermostat. Once I did it via the web on my PC, the other I yelled at Alexa in the living room from my office to do it. I guess I could get a dot for my home office, but I have a PC here, so that would have been nice. I needed to add some things to my to do list, which would have been nice to do from my PC via Alexa. I've created appointments/reminders a few times this week where it would have been nice as well (If it synced with my Outlook reminders which I could set up, but haven't yet).
Your imagination is either very poor, or you just don't like change.
Those are things that I don't really care about at all.
However, I can't seem to find another streaming solution that: * Supports 4k HEVC @ 24/50/60 fps (Roku Ultimate won't do 24) * Supports DTS-HD, TrueHD, DTS:X, Atmos (Most won't) * Supports HDR10 and rec2020 * Supports HDMI-CEC (Some won't) * Has a supported and well maintained plex client (Some) * Alexa support * Voice search * Main search will search across netflix, amazon prime, and plex
Yes, because all studies involving the average human should just use your experience and extrapolate that out to the rest of the 7.4 billion people on the planet.
A trademark is a brand name. A trademark or service mark includes any word, name, symbol, device, or any combination, used or intended to be used to identify and distinguish the goods/services of one seller or provider from those of others, and to indicate the source of the goods/services.
The article is about how apple tried to keep some clothing manufacturers from using "Steve Jobs" as a clothing line with a capital J with an apple stem stuck on the top of it that is the exact same style and relative size and position of the apple logo. The logo (the J) also has what appears to be a bite taken out the right hand side in the same style and shape is apple's logo.
A 2-year old would say that a shirt with that brand (Steve J Jobs) with the J logo could (and even extremely likely) to be confusing as whether it was made by apple or a clothing division of apple, but the EU court ruling that the logo doesn't infringe is just beyond stupid.
Simple test... When I say Steve Jobs while discussing this clothing, do you honestly believe that there is no confusion about what I might be talking about? There are even exemptions for "famous" marks, and I would say "Steve Jobs" is pretty famous.
Plex can transcode videos on the fly (or in the background as media is imported) so that only the server needs to be powerful enough to transcode instead of each player.
Or any PVR/NAS with interface supported by Kodi. (Essentially ALL of them of any consequence)
Personally I would say Kodi is more like a toy in comparison to Plex. Plex can transcode videos on the fly (or in the background as media is imported) so that only the server needs to be powerful enough to transcode instead of each player. Plex is definitely supported on more devices. It can also put copies on a phone for mobile off-line viewing. You can share libraries with other people (Say vacation photos with my dad, etc). It also has an option to put the server in the cloud. Plex also integrates with Trakt via plugin as well.
I also prefer plex's UI to Kodi's. Kodi does have more plug-ins and customization options, but I'm happier with plex (I have both, but haven't updated kodi in years).
It's more of a media manager. It tracks what you've watched already, can add in ratings of things in your media library so you can say get a view of media that you have that you haven't already watched and sorted by it's rotten tomatos or imdb rating so you watch the good stuff first. It also puts a pretty UI on top instead of picking movies from a file open dialog box or file explorer. It can add links to "extras" around the media, like a trailer, or cast interviews from YouTube, show links to other movies the cast was in, or create a theater like experience where it shows trailers for other media you have just before starting a movie.
There is no honest debate on whether this tax bill will meaningfully boost the economy and help American workers. It won't. It will boost the stock market (or more likely already has) and create the illusion that the economy has improved, but that is about it.
So, you are saying that it will only boost the stock market. Which based on my last 12 months, my 401(k) and my separate stock account has grown by 21%. That's basically all the money I have saved over my lifetime is now 21% bigger, and the "only" thing it will do is increase it (assuming the same rate or better than last year) another 21%?
I think your logic here is pretty flawed because I'm an American worker, and I can tell you without a doubt that another 21% growth in my 401(k) and stock market accounts will meaningfully help me prepare for retirement someday, add to my rainy day cushion fund, and a not insignificant portion of it has already and will likely continue to go back into the economy.
In the past 3 months, I've bought a new house (which I haven't done in 25 years), upgraded all the fire detectors/carbon monoxide detectors with nest protects, replaced the thermostat with a nest thermostat, replaced (some) lighting with Philips Hue lights and replaced (some) CFLs with LEDs, bought 6 echo/echo dots, bought two bedroom sets, one couch, remodeled a bathroom, paid off my car loan in full, hired a contractor for some misc stuff, etc etc. So while I can't speak for everyone, I can definitely tell you that from my personal perspective you are dead wrong.
Yeah, another winning conclusion from the EU. Either the EU courts are just unbelievably stupid, or they believe the populace of the EU is stupid. Or as most suspect, the EU will just side against any American company no matter how stupid the argument.
I went the Nvidia shield route and I'm not regretting it at all. Seems to work for every use case I have, including Plex and Alexa integration which is awesome.
Not sure you actually tried it. I just did with Version 63.0.3239.84 (Official Build) (64-bit), and it immediately pulled the username, and as soon as I clicked on anything on the page it also grabbed the password.
But why would you want to facially scan departing international flights? That would be silly. It's arriving international flights that you would want to do facial scans, and those are all in terminal 5.
Every security system I've seen that allows for registration will notify you either as soon as you try to create the account, or quite often immediately after the username field loses focus. I've never seen where it does as you suggest and either sends you a verification message or a password reset if the account already exists.
So... If you manually update then you won't get any emergency calls that you have to fix right now. That's interesting.
Nothing wrong really with wanting to control the when updates apply, but saying it's because you are afraid that you might get a call while the update is happening isn't a valid reason.

Pretty sure that GPS also contains altitude information. It's just most people don't care about it, and most applications don't show it.
And... Based on the fact that even fairly simple math is too complicated for you, I can both understand why you are only getting paid $60k year in an IT job, and horrified that you haven't been replaced yet.
And most likely a graphics rendering farm will see 0-1% difference, if you actually care.
" older" is the word they used, not "old". Are you of the belief that something from 2015 is not older than something from 2017?
Of course not, it's just less new.
Actually, most of 2015 is closer to 3 years ago.
I have 1 echo and 5 dots. They have similar functionality where if more than one hears it, then (usually) only one responds. It works well, but it's not perfect.

Shield hardware is dated.
Dated how? What media streamer has better hardware? I sure haven't found any.
Yes, because all studies involving the average human should just use your experience and extrapolate that out to the rest of the 7.4 billion people on the planet.
There are laws.

This is completely false. All international flights are in terminal 4 at O'Hare. Domestic flights are in terminals 1, 2, or 3.
